XAVIER’S MANAGEMENT SOCIETY

ANNUAL REPORT FOR THE YEAR 2010-11 OF THE XAVIER’S MANAGEMENT SOCIETY

The Xavier’s Management Society (XMS) is a society formed under the Department of Business Administration and was established in September 2010. With the growing strength of students, the decision to form an association was an inevitable step towards progress. The Society is privileged to have the Vice Principal of the Business Administration and Commerce department, Father Dominic Savio S.J, as the President and Professor Amitava Roy as the Teacher-in-Charge to guide us in all its ventures.

XMS is a society based on the ideological framework of commitment to excellence. With this very spirit, we in XMS believe it is essential for us to move out of our comfort zones and keep on questioning the need of moving ahead.

It is then that we were reminded of the argumentative Indian that resides within each one of us and with this, we wished to initiate an inter department debate and thus took a small step towards the same. We hope to see this debate grow as a convergence point of intellectualism and pragmatism based on reasoning. X-Confero is a shape to that dream, that vision which we envision to be one of the greatest college/ university debates of our city and our country. The X-Confero was a resounding success and we hope to come back next year with a bigger, better and an even more enriching experience next year.

The Xecutive’12 is the annual magazine of the BBA department and is being launched on 14th November,2011 by Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. The notion for X-ecutive’12 is “Double Dip Recession”. With this issue we wish to see how fissures were created across the globe and what all actually went into the dynamism of the modern day economics governing the globe.

X-Talk is another event which takes place as a part of our annual festival, the most prestigious convention in the college, The Xavier’s Management Convention 2012. This year we are privileged to have Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, Former President of India, as the guest lecturer for X-Talk’11.

The Xavier’s Management Convention 2012 will take place in February,2012. It is undoubtedly one of the most awaited festival of the Department of Business Administration. This year we in XMS believe it is time to translate this festival into an international arena for the convergence of the brightest minds across the globe.

XMS has also sent teams, representing the department, for participating in other management festivals. Our students shone out in each fest and returned with accolades and rewards alike. Our team was placed first in the annual festival of Bhawanipur Gujarati Education Society, Kurukshetra. In Inertia, an international marketing summit organized by the Marketing Department of our college, our students were placed second overall.

The Society seeks to develop new events and programs to enable students to explore their various skills and put their managerial knowledge to test. It aims to achieve a collective effort in bringing out the best in the students and providing them with a myriad of opportunities for an all round development. With activities like field trips, industrial visits, quizzes, panel discussions and debates, XMS provides a perfect channel to make a mark and leave an impression.
