George Cope
Ontario, Canada

President and Chief Executive Officer, BCE and Bell Canada (Since July 2008)

As President and CEO of Bell Canada and BCE Inc., George Cope is leading the transformation of Canada’s largest communications company into an efficient customer-focused competitor, based on a strategy of enhanced service capability, substantial broadband network investments and a high-performance team culture. With industry-leading capital investments of approximately $6 billion in 2009 and 2010, Bell recently launched a world-leading new mobile HSPA+ network and enhanced broadband fibre infrastructure for advanced Internet and television services.

Prior to joining Bell in 2005, George was President and CEO of Telus Mobility, responsible for transforming the company’s regional wireless operation into a national competitor. He previously served as President and CEO of national wireless carrier Clearnet Communications before its 2000 acquisition by Telus in what remains the largest transaction in Canadian telecommunications history.

Mr. Cope holds a BComm (Honours) degree from the University of Western Ontario. He serves on the Advisory Board of the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario.

Mr. Cope is also a director of Bank of Montreal and Bell Canada and is also the Chair of the Board of Bell Aliant Inc.
