‘Ishaqzaade’: A Bloody Romance

Right from the unconventional theatrical promos and the much-anticipated debut of Arjun Kapoor, Yash Raj Films’ ‘Ishaqzaade’ has been creating waves ever since its arrival.  From the first look of the film, it was apparent that this was not a usual love story and it had something exceptional to offer.

With a political backdrop and inter-caste rivalry between the two families, the movie comes with a strong social message towards the end which hits the audiences with a bang. It can be said that ‘Ishaqzaade’ is an Indianized version of modern romance with a toss and spin of ‘Romeo & Juliet’. The characters are well developed. Both Arjun and Parineeti have done ample justice to the characters of Parma and Zoya respectively.

For starters, Arjun’s theatrical skills, which he has acquired via years of drama and street plays, has paid off well. At the same time, Parineeti has given a promising performance right from her looks to her dialogue delivery styles. Habib Faizal has selected perfect ambiances and locations to shape this script in a way which does not let the grip off the story.

Talking about the Box Office, as per the initial reports, the movie saw a 25-35 percent start, while some multiplexes were better and even had a 50% opening. The response from the audience is mixed, leaning towards positive, so there was an indication of pick up during the latter shows. ‘Ishaqzaade’ continues its good run on the second day with collections of approx Rs.5 Cr. Nett.
