This week, the buzzword in the Star Wars universe is not actually a word at all, but a number: 1313, to be exact. Everyone’s wondering why Lucasfilm purchased domain names relating to “Star Wars” and those mysterious digits.

Many theorists say it has something to do with a long-awaited Boba Fett movie, but Eric Geller of TheForce.net doesn’t buy it. “My best guess is that ‘1313’ refers to Thursday, January 3rd, 2013,” Geller says. “They may be planning to unveil the starwars1313.com website this fall and use it to tease an announcement that will be made on 1/3/13.” But why a Thursday? “I have no clue,” Geller admits. “It's an odd day of the week to make an announcement, but maybe they really wanted the double-13 repetition factor.”

Geller also has a notion about what exactly Lucasfilm will announce on 1/3/13. “I think it will be details about Seth Green's animated series. Seth Green and his team have been working on this show for a while, and Lucasfilm must be getting close to finalizing certain details.”

Tim Burton and Johnny Depp have always been known for pushing the envelope with their cinematic collaborations. There's always some element of the plot or the film's design that sparks controversy or is dismissed as too "weird."

When MTV News spoke with Burton and Depp about their latest collaboration, "Dark Shadows," the duo opened up about their goals and why what they do is so out there.

Burton said that what his projects usually come down to is looking for a challenge. "I think that we get sparked by challenges," Burton said. "Sometimes the challenges might be a bit abstract, like this one. Most people who know 'Dark Shadows' or don't know 'Dark Shadows,' really don't care. For me, it was something I was interested in trying. It's always just about the idea."

If you've been scouring MTV.com lately, then you already know the great news: Russell Brand is hosting the 2012 MTV Movie Awards! Exciting, huh? There are three important ingredients that make a good host. The first is you're willing to embarrass yourself. The second is you're willing to embarrass other people. The third is that you're damn funny and can entertain an audience. We certainly think Brand has proved all three with his stand-up comedy and experience as a two-time Video Music Award emcee.

And as you can see from the tweet above, Brand's already brought on the fun and the jokes. Although, we're pretty sure he's not joking. 2012 MTV Group Sex Movie Awards, anyone? If Brand gets his way, maybe it'll happen!

World's End

Just last month, Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg finished writing the third installment in their "Blood and Ice Cream" trilogy, which includes hits "Shaun of the Dead" and "Hot Fuzz." Fans weren't sure when they'd see "The World's End" complete the genre tale connected by Cornetto ice cream flavors with Wright's "Scott Pilgrim" sidestepping things and Pegg's occupation with the "Star Trek" films.

Deadline delivered news last night, however, that the film is set for a spring 2013 release date. The duo makes their return with frequent collaborator Nick Frost, "20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl," with a September shoot date.

“ … One of them becomes hell bent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by mate Gary King, a 40-year old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their home town and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub, The World’s End,” the website shared. “As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind’s. Reaching The World’s End is the least of their worries.”

The first official trailer for "Gangster Squad," the 1940s cops-versus-gangsters flick from "Zombieland" director Ruben Fleischer, has arrived online... and I'm a bit whelmed. Feels like "L.A. Confidential Part 2," now with more Ryan Gosling and less Guy Pearce — which isn't the worst thing in the world, minus the "less Guy Pearce" part. To me, it just feels a little too by the numbers.

But you be the judge for yourself: check out the trailer over here, and click below for five key scenes from the new "Gangster Squad" trailer.

"Harry Potter" fans aren't going to have to come solely to the United States to visit Hogwarts at Universal Studios anymore.

Universal Studios Japan has unveiled plans to open a Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Osaka by 2014. This is the third announced Wizarding World park, and will likely be the second one to open. Universal Orlando opened theirs in 2010, and Universal Hollywood announced late last year that they'll also be bringing Hogwarts to their theme park at some point in the future.

The Los Angeles Times has the news, and says the expansion will probably cost Universal Japan a hefty $500 million. That will cover building Hogwarts and the Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey ride on the park property, plus whatever other additions they plan to include. Construction is expected to begin within the next few weeks.

Brad Pitt Killing Them Softly

Sure, it's only 41 seconds long, but there is just something so right about the first clip from Andrew Dominik's "Killing Them Softly" (née "Cogan's Trade").

The Brad Pitt-led crime film is set to make its world premiere at Cannes later this month, but a brief clip posted to YouTube gives us a first look at one of our most anticipated movies of the year.

In the clip, which is made up of one extended take, Sam Shepard's character questions Ray Liotta about the recent stick-up during a mob card game. The shot reeks of Dominik's unique style and is predictably awesome.

Check out the clip after the jump!

Django Unchained

Once the film that every actor in Hollywood clamored to join, Quentin Tarantino's "Django Unchained" has lost two more cast members. Sacha Baron Cohen and Kurt Russell have both dropped out of Tarantino's Southern-set western.

As The Playlist originally reported, Baron Cohen announced during his interview with Howard Stern that his commitments to the press circuit for "The Dictator" made it impossible for him to film the part, which he described as a cameo. He was set to play Scotty, a sort of man-child who comes to own the title character's wife. The role was supposedly re-written for Baron Cohen, and there's been no word on who may replace him.

There is far more mystery surrounding Russell's departure. Variety broke the story but could provide no explanation for the move. Russell took the part of Ace Woody, a slave trainer, after Kevin Costner turned down the role. The current rumor going around is that instead of recasting Woody, Tarantino has decided to drop the character from the film all together. However, this is still a tenuous rumor at best.
