Today, Liam Hemsworth--who plays Miley Cryus' love interest in April's The Last Song--stopped by the Teen Vogue offices. We chatted with the actor about what it was like growing up in Australia, his favorite movies, and surfing. Also, be sure to check out our exclusive clip with Liam!
How's your visit to New York been?
I love New York. It just reminds me of so many movies...I look up at buildings, and feel like Godzilla should be climbing up them or something. I've tried to get out and see it a bit--I went out last night to a sushi place and they served me sushi on an oar!
So, you grew up in Australia?
I grew up close to Melbourne, about two hours outside, on Phillip Island. It's really small, it's kind of a little summer beach town. I spent a lot of time surfing with my brothers, Chris and Luke.
How long have you been acting?
I've been acting for about two-and-half or three years. I grew up watching Chris and Luke do it--then in high school I started taking it seriously, got an agent, and did some Australian TV, like the show Neighbours, for a little while.
Have you actually seen The Last Song?
Yeah, a few weeks ago. I think it's great--I'm really proud of it. I'll have to watch it again though, because I spent the whole time basically just critiquing myself. I had a lot of fun filming it.
What are some of your favorite movies?
The Departed, Superbad, and a film that James Franco did called James Dean.
Tell us your celebrity crush.
Ummm....Will Ferrell.
