Former Cougar Nick Saenz Signs With Buffalo Bills
May 14, 2012
Houston, Texas - Former Houston defensive back Nick Saenz has signed a free agent contract with the Buffalo Bills. Saenz was one of 21 players trying out for Buffalo over the weekend and made a strong impression with the organization before signing on Monday. Terms of the contract were not disclosed, but the Pearland native has enjoyed a great off-season, which included running a 4.46 40-yard dash time during Houston's Pro Day on March 19. The time was the fastest of the day by a Cougar and followed one of the best games of his collegiate career when he recorded eight tackles and two interceptions during Houston's 30-14 victory over Penn State in the 2012 TicketCity Bowl. Saenz (6-foot-1, 190) started three seasons for the Cougars at defensive back and made 248 career tackles and five interceptions. Saenz is the ninth Cougar in an NFL rookie mini camp. He joins Bryce Beall (Dallas Cowboys), Sammy Brown (St. Louis Rams), Patrick Edwards (Detroit Lions), Michael Hayes (San Diego Chargers), David Hunter (Houston Texans), Case Keenum (Houston Texans), Marcus McGraw (Arizona Cardinals) and Chris Thompson (Dallas Cowboys).
