Next week, THE DEVIL’S CARNIVAL enters the last leg of its Road Tour, which has seen director Darren Lynn Bousman, scripter Terrance Zdunich and their cohorts travel the country screening their horror musical as part of a multimedia show (see review here). Fango sat down with Bousman (who additionally has the MOTHER’S DAY remake hitting limited theaters this Friday and disc next Tuesday) and Zdunich (who also plays Lucifer in CARNIVAL) at their New York City stop at Times Scare last week, to discuss the experience, plans for CARNIVAL follow-ups and the director’s upcoming features THE BARRENS and NINETY.

In SOUND OF MY VOICE, director/co-writer Zal Batmanglij and co-writer/star Brit Marling have crafted something special. Haunting, provoking and ultimately the type of film that implores its audience to just give themselves over, the tense and eerie story of an L.A. cult is low-key Science fiction one is behooved to seek out. Continuing our interviews (see our talk with lead Christopher Denham here), Fango sat down with both Batmanglij and Marling (presented back-to-back below), and spoke the many layers of the film, seeking transcendence and much more.

It’s just as much a modern Gothic mystery, and at its center is a beautiful enigma named Ernessa, played by Lily Cole, who explored her character in an exclusive Fango interview.

Out today is Joseph Kahn’s manic teen horror/comedy, DETENTION. A hyperkinetic blend of tone, genre and idea, it sees young actress Shanley Caswell anchor us through it all as hapless, hilarious and resilient heroine Riley Jones. The prison break-in subgenre goes into orbit in LOCKOUT, the latest production from one-man action factory Luc Besson. For this film, the feature directorial debut of Irish filmmakers James Mather and Stephen St. Leger (who also scripted with Besson), a pair of leads were chosen with plenty of experience in screen survival: Australian actor Guy Pearce and LOST star Maggie Grace, who spoke together to Fango about their LOCKOUT roles.
