Scrap Challenge

I gave up for now on the blue coiled rug I posted about a few days ago because it did not match the colors in my daughters kitchen. So I am going to finish it for my son later on.... I wanted a new rug for my sewing room so this is the one I have been working on.

Scrap Challenge

Carol posted about making a coiled fabric Easter basket last month. I saw this as an opportunity to make one or 2 as my scrap challenge. I went and purchased the clothesline and started on my coiled basket. Well, it looked more like a giant sombrero so I set off to start over again but this time instead of making a basket I just kept going around and I am making a rug. This process has been very time consuming since wrapping the fabric around the cord takes alot of time. I use Elmer's glue to start the coiling and I cut my stips into 1/2 inch wide. I have been working on this one for weeks and it is still not big enough. When working on these you must stitch on the open part of your sewing machine or it will curl up.

Odds and Ends

Just a few things I have squeezed in here and there to spruce up the house.
I used the Go cutter for the center flowers.

Lots going on

First, trying to figure out this new blogger site has been quite a challenge. I have been very busy tending to my flower beds since we have had such an early spring. Even the gladiolas are blooming and they are not scheduled to bloom until August. I wonder what type of plants I will have in the summer if everything is blooming now?
