Oh I remember it fondly (enjoyed the book too). My original gaming handle was even Ding Chavez. Although my handle changed, all my gaming friends still call me 'Ding'.
I absolutely loved the mission planing aspect of the game. I must have replayed that first game hundreds of times. Me and my brother got so proficient we started doing speed runs of each level. We made some pretty complex plans and had it down to a science. Iirc we beat the opening mission in 37seconds.
I was disappointed with the original Xbox Rainbow Six, but I was happy enough with what Vegas & Vegas 2 brought to the game. But I do wish the game had a more open approach to solving the mission like the original. Now its just another cinematic FPS on rails.
Side Note: Vegas2 + Terrorist Hunt + Murdertown + Realistic Difficulty + Max Terrorist Count + 5 minute time limit = One of the hardest things I ever completed. I cant count how many times my brother and I co-oped trying to beat that.
