    Integration

    You are hearing a lot about integration within Veretekk especially with the launch of V2. But most people do not fully grasp the term and how it plays in V2. Let me try to illustrate this powerful aspect of V2.

    A note about my background and experience: I started into Marketing at a very young age. In a thumbnail, I was born to be an artist. My parents were horrified about this claiming that artist starve to death. This freaked me out. So I bought many books on marketing art and marketing in general. One of those books, "Confessions of an Advertising Man", by David Ogilvy I purchased in 1980. That book changed my life. In 1984 Soon after I acquired my first computer and the quest to merge was on.

    I coined the term back in the 90s as Data Base Marketing, but today, with the advent of a progressing Internet, and related technologies, what was a tactical or strategic action in the 80s today is represented by a digital counterpart.

    Today's Internet Marketer is by far a lot less qualified to be in marketing than his counterpart 20 years ago. Today one can just claim to be an SEO master or an Internet Marketer simply because the information to discover the basics and intricacies to do so are at everyone's fingertips. This does not diminish the effectiveness of today's marketer over the marketing agency of 20 years ago, it just establishes that things have changed on a massive scale.

    20 years ago it took a Marketing Department to accomplish what most Internet marketers set upon themselves to do today on their own. (This is why so many fail and/or have a chronic case of ADD; Attention Deficit Disorder).

    The marketing tools of the Internet, the ability to measure results, the ability to research on the Internet is a dream come true to a seasoned and long time experienced ad man as myself. But it also brings with it a serious risk potential and that is the undertaking of keeping track of and updating each of the aspects that compromise Internet Marketing today.

    Back before the Internet an ad agency had many people for each respective responsibility, one department for sending direct mail, another for trade shows and conferences and yet another for display advertising and printed material.

    This is why the majority of Internet marketers are tactical (focused mostly on one aspect like SEO) instead of being strategic, having a full focus of research, analysis, multifaceted campaigns using all the tools required for full scale Internet marketing, keeping it organized and processing the constant information caused by such a campaign.

    Tools ie:

    • Hosting for domains and websites

    • Auto responders email for follow-up communications

    • Web Conference Rooms for live meetings, educational seminars, training connecting.

    • SEO systems, back links, authority sites, forums, blogs, etc.

    • Display advertising

    • A social networking system and management

    • Lead generating systems or resources for a steady inventory of leads.

    • Contact data management system, calendars, reminders component.

    The need to integrate all these aspects is paramount otherwise the marketing campaign is limited to a tactical approach, with poor management and even worse results. IE: hit and miss attempts, scattered approaches caused by lack of a solid strategy, impulsively running from one idea to another, the results are mediocre at best and worse, forgetting what was done in the past as this method also lacks tracking the accounts, posts, ads, and tactics, etc. used.

    I have seen competent SEO marketers run from one domain to another, buying more domains and creating sites just for posting more content and pointing to other sites pointing to other sites creating a mass of gibberish that at best might increase an Alexa ranking to some degree but never really amounting to anything but time wasted.

    This same phenomena can be seen with many people on the Internet running from one business idea or opportunity to the other. With no clear-cut objective, this is why most Internet marketers fail.

    When you integrate the entire process, from research analysis (keeping track of that), keyword analysis, targeted content, pre written letters ready for your sequential mail auto responders, team building with a symbiotic group, videos and audio animations and screen captured demos, capture pages (tested with your group in our Bull Pen: focus groups increase the overall effectiveness of design and strategy), blogging and other partners in your group blogging on your behalf, back linking strategies and keeping track of the thousands of authority site memberships for additional effect, ratings with Google Page ranks and Alexa ranks and tracking that, traffic tracking, running display ads and managing that, running Google adsense ads, Facebook Ads etc and tracking, radio ads and cable TV ads. Whew!

    All of this seems very overwhelming to accomplish 'on your own'. However the very core of Veretekk and it's services and benefits allows you to run full throttle professional campaigns like this without resorting to hiring an agency to do it, or having a dozen or so unrelated services in an attempt to run something akin to this on your own

    You heard me talking about Integrated Marketing. You have heard me say that Automated Marketing is misleading to most. Really? An autoresponder is automated marketing. A mini URL redirect is automated marketing. Filling out an online form is also automated marketing. A WordPress blog is a form of automated marketing. Just about anything related to sales and awareness on the Internet in one way or another can be classified as one form or another of automated marketing.

    But most people think 'automated marketing' is a simple pushbutton system that does all the work and builds a business for you, also pitched as 'pushbutton marketing'. Automation is a process that helps eliminate what would be additional manual steps to produce a result (menial tasks). In that, 'automated marketing' would apply especially to Veretekk. Integrated Marketing takes it further in that a central system (database) is incorporated into all the different marketing tools and processes.

    But this article is about symbiotic marketing.

    With the reality of a central relational database firmly in the core of Veretekk and all that means as far as Integrated Marketing is:

    You may have taken stock while creating your business plan on all of the essential tools that you will need to use to run your internet marketing business online. The trick is how to make all the various applications work together.

    One of the sanest and most efficient 'concepts' on earth is the 'relational database' - What it means is having everything in one place and entering data only once, and having it all relate in an easy-to-navigate interface. For example, the key piece of data in the relationship is the person's name. Every other piece of information that we have regarding this name should be in one place.

    Examples of data that would be related to this name are his contact information, such as email address, phone, etc.; then you have your notes about your contacts with this person - what date you talked to him, what are his interests, what business he is in; the date you will follow-up.     We might also have a record of which emails we have sent him so that we do not send duplicate messages and/or that we know the next message in the series to send him and when the appropriate time to send is. Naturally the only way to do this is to have an autoresponder. (VereMail)

    Hopefully what follows is what the programs or products this person has purchased from you are and at what level - that is what upgrades or etc. would be appropriate for him in the future - and again a date where we will follow-up with him to see how he is doing.

    Very few organizations including the largest seem to understand the power a relational database has and instead seem to have fragments that must be constantly manually updated and require duplication of efforts to keep everything organized.

    Oh, but the real nightmare here is if you are using different software for each function, there is a point where your versions will no longer 'talk to each other'. Literally you will be copying and pasting databases across platforms or manually re-entering data to keep it all up to date and in one place.

    Next consider your marketing efforts - another nightmare to control and navigate. Where are all the places you posted your articles? Links? Ads? Did you sign up for that Social Network? Which ones? How about the Web2.0 postings? Did you do everything you needed to do today? Yesterday? This week? Keep track of all your Internet 'real estate'and activities - and again, all in one place. (V2 Market Manager).

    Where multiple applications are used for various aspects of your business, it can be another job in itself to keep everything organized - or conversely to be in constant chaos. Not the way to run a business. That is why one of the smartest things you can do is to get a program that has everything all in one place and all linked together for you.

    These services are necessary to move into a symbiotic marketing system. The challenge has been getting a group together to all work as a team, (whereas doing this in an office back in them old days it worked), today with everything virtual, working remotely, working from home, where an organization is more likely separated by time zones, borders even oceans, something a bit more targeted to solve the requirement of cohesion to put the group together is appropriate.

    Several years ago I made a serious attempt to create a symbiotic marketing group for my core business (Trivita) where we had a growing group all focused on building the same opportunity. I delegated different responsibilities to the group. We all focused on getting our target site traffic.

    One person was working a click share program, another was writing articles and posting them to the Veretekk system, another called the leads and others manned the conference room. SEO teams went to work building top search engine results. A few of the leaders delegated out the signups 3 under 3 and so it went and it grew and we broke records. This entire campaign is what inspired the building of the original Platinum Control Panel, now known as the Market Center.

    However the entire group eventually fell apart. Veretekk wasn't really ready. There was no V2 then, actually this campaign inspired V2 as well. But there was no cohesion, there was no way to measure the process, there was no way to hold it all together. Eventually many were disappointed because the system failed to grow down into the group. Basically after a successful start it died.

    V2 launched and it is like merging FaceBook with a fully armed portfolio of all the marketing tools you can imagine with the entire thing integrated; And V2 is evolving and I like it.

    Just recently Mike Darling launched several new features that are bringing us closer to the symbiotic realty I have dreamed about for years. First the V2 Groups that allow you to create a group of your friends into an interactive dedicated system in your dashboards. Integrated with this is the Reminder and alert system that informs you of certain actions you need to take or actions others have taken you need to be aware of.

    The new Friends Groups like my group "Bull Pen" are now stand alone pages that have links to them so you can actually promote your groups outside of V2. Another powerful feature leading us into Symbiosis is the recent integration of the Conference room into your Group wall.

    By now you have discovered the new paradigm shift with Veretekk putting on Web Conference Seminars. This will become a standard within Veretekk, reaching out to the masses on the Internet and making available our wisdom and experience from our own perspectives which is exactly how it is for all of us. We all have our own unique way of seeing things.

    This is a good thing to get different perspectives form others especially in these conferences. Who knows, eventually you will be hosting these web conferences yourself. I have seen these rooms fill up with up to a thousand people hungry for knowledge and I have seen other rooms filled to capacity 24 hours a day as a social seen. Go figure.

    The Internet is a massive experiment in action. To be successful you have to stay engaged with it and realize the learning curve is infinite and exponential. So in that spirit lets get on with it.

    To compliment the seminars I am now producing "WorkShops". Unlike the seminars, workshops are focused on a set of steps to learn a skill from a particular function within the system, Workshops are 1 hour long. The first 30 minutes are the lessons and the last 30 minutes are for questions and answers and over view and demonstrations, etc.

    These events are recordable and may also be recorded by the teacher giving the workshop to be published via the Veretekk Back office in Resources where an archive of workshops will be made available.

    The marketing tools of the Internet, the ability to measure results, the ability to research on the Internet is a dream come true to a seasoned and long time experienced ad man as myself. But it also brings with it a serious risk potential and that is the undertaking of keeping track of and updating each of the aspects that compromise Internet Marketing today.

    Back before the Internet an ad agency had many people for each respective responsibility, one department for sending direct mail, another for tradeshows and conferences and yet another for display advertising and printed material, press releases, radio ads, conventions, etc.....

    This is why the majority of Internet marketers are tactical (focused mostly on one aspect like SEO) instead of being strategic, having a full focus of research, analysis, multifaceted campaigns using all the tools required for full scale Internet marketing, keeping it organized and processing the constant information caused by such a campaign.

    Tools ie:

    • Hosting for domains and websites

    • Auto responders email for follow-up communications

    • Web Conference Rooms for live meetings, educational seminars, training connecting.

    • SEO systems, back links, authority sites, forums, blogs, etc.

    • Display advertising

    • A social networking system and management

    • Lead generating systems or resources for a steady inventory of leads.

    • Contact data management system, calendars, reminders component.
    The need to integrate all these aspects is paramount otherwise the marketing campaign is limited to a tactical approach, with poor management and even worse results. IE: hit and miss attempts, scattered approaches caused by lack of a solid strategy, impulsively running from one idea to another, the results are mediocre at best and worse, forgetting what was done in the past as this method also lacks tracking the posts, ads, and tactics, etc. used.

    I have seen competent SEO marketers run from one domain to another, buying more domains and creating sites just for posting more content on pointing to other sites pointing to other sites creating a mass of gibberish that at best might increase an Alexa ranking to some degree but never really amounting to anything but time wasted.

    This same phenomena can be seen with many people on the Internet running from one business idea or opportunity to the other. With no clear-cut objective, this is why most Internet marketers fail.

    When you integrate the entire process, from research analysis (keeping track of that), keyword analysis, targeted content, pre written letters ready for your sequential mail auto responders, team building with a symbiotic group, videos and audio animations and screen captured demos, capture pages (tested with your group in our Bull Pen: focus groups increase the overall effectiveness of design and strategy), blogging and other partners in your group blogging on your behalf, back linking strategies and keeping track of the thousands of authority site memberships for additional effect, ratings with Google Page ranks and Alexa ranks and tracking that, traffic tracking, running display ads and managing that, running Google adsense ads, Facebook Ads etc and tracking, radio ads and cableTV ads. Whew!

    Now a word about Blogging and email. I constructed this email/blog to demonstrate how you reach your customers. You write to them not to the robots, OK? Here it is. (And you can plagiarize this you have my permission)


    Write like your talking to the guy next to you on the plane.

    I need to weigh in here.

    With the latest Google algorithm updates Panda and Penguin, nothing much changed for my top 1st page ranks. Why? I don't write to Google robots. I write as though I am talking to someone next to me on a commercial jet or even more apropos, as if I am speaking to someone of interest on a short elevator ride so I must get my point across quickly.

    Forget the keyword density, forget addressing the robots in your copy like "as found on Google, or as you build your business on Google, or blah blah blah on Google". If you're thinking that Google will reward you for this, think again. Google will pick it up as article spam. What they do with your site after that is anyone's guess but I know for a fact that Google hires people to look at sites for about 15 seconds per and if that human thinks your writing to the robots your site gets killed.

    OK so what to do? Write as if your talking to the friend on the plan next to you or that person you have an exclusive audience for about 3-5 minutes on that elevator ride.

    So, I am asked, what do you do? I tell my new friend, "I own a company called Veretekk, it is an Automated Online Marketing System, what do you do"? They usually reply with a typical answer "I am a salesperson for ABC company that does XYZ", etc. then come back wanting know "what does Veretekk do"? What is an automated online marketing system?

    Hmmm as I ponder how to make it clear what we do in a few minutes.

    I asked him, have you ever called leads? I am sure you experienced the rejection that is common buying leads. It is not fun and most people will avoid it at all costs. No pier support in these efforts as you slog along crawling through the broken glass and barbed wire of rejection calling unrelated leads to pitch your cause.

    Interesting aspects of marketing and advertising always lead to further knowledge in the how tos and the whys of effective strategies that lead to sales. This case study will involve an actual event that took place just yesterday in a local tire shop. This nationwide branded facility advertises the best prices of all the other tires shops in town, with the all important "free replacement" coupon" attached with every purpose. This will be an excellent way to look at marketing and advertising in a more realistic way, and to discover that unknowingly, we can all fall victim to unscrupulous and underhanded tricks to make money from particular goods and services.

    Truth in Marketing?

    In essence, business takes on an unsavory characteristic when dealing in the real world. Obviously, after having lived and worked in many businesses and jobs over the years, I too have fallen prey to dealers who advertise one thing, while providing something totally different, and making you like it in the process.

    Yesterday, I decide that its time to purchase tires for my automobile. I choose one of the nationwide dealers as I figure that I will get the price, as well as the best price. I will not mention names in this article, as that is not my purpose to defame the good name of the dealer in any way, but only to show how good marketing and advertising techniques can, and will make all of us do things without questioning, which will most likely lead us to spend more money than is necessary on almost any goods we require.

    Upon entering the tire shop, the one thing that is predominant is the amount of work going on. Nicely dressed young men are eagerly waiting to pounce on the next customer to serve them with their tire needs. This is a great way to run a business. All the people here are under the age of thirty, and the energy level is high. The salesman comes to me and asks what can he do for me today, and I simply tell him that I wish to buy a good set of all season tires for my car. He literally runs out the door to inspect my tires, so that he can assist me in getting just the right tire for my particular automobile. In actuality, the service is quite impressive. It is not at all what you might expect when purchasing tires. More often than not, Billy Bob, with a chew of tobacco, and a three day old soiled shirt will be the usual. These guys were definitely cutting edge in their particular marketing and salesmanship skills. They had been well schooled.

    To this point, I am quite impressed with the overall business like appearance of the store, as well as the employees involved. The young man goes about the job of searching on his PC for just the right for me, and my driving needs. He shoots me the final price, and tells me that this includes the "FREE" replacement on any tire that I purchase there. He says that "if you ever have a problem with our tires, we replace them for FREE" Obviously, this appeals to me and I make the deal, pay the guy, and we wait in the lobby while our tires are being installed. I am taking about this company is very busy, and selling, repairing and assisting a lot o f customers. I hear some of the other people talking about how they are well pleased with the prices, the service and the overall buying experience found within this tire shop.

    About 40 minutes later, the car is ready, and yet another man comes and hands me the warranty information, and tells me that no matter where I am in the US, my tires are covered for FREE! I take a look at the invoice and notice a $52.00 charge for 4 tires for the free replacement. I have to consider this for a moment. I know full well that their main selling point is that the tires come with a guarantee of free replacement for the life of the tire, right? Is $52 FREE? So, I ask the gentleman to explain the charge on my credit card for the supposed free replacement purchase. He explains the benefits of the free service, and fully explains that I will be taken care of for the life of the tires for flats, road hazards and the whole deal. Now, I have to ask the reader, is $52 free?

    This is the case in underhanded marketing that we all need to be very conscious of. Outwardly the price may be free, but by reading the fine print, we might just find that the so called free price is far from free, or even appealing. Not only was THIS not free, but the back of the warranty card told me that in the event that my tire is replaced, there is an ADDITIONAL $10 charge to add the additional FREE warranty for the tire! Wow, the hits just keep on coming!

    Prime case of marketing and advertising goods and services in an underhanded way, that makes YOU, the paying customer like it! I am thoroughly convinced that this so called nationwide tire company has built a multi billion dollar business around NOT doing business the right way. In a perfect world, marketing and advertising should be done in an ethical and moral way; however, we are talking the real world folks. Most often, it simply does not nap pen that way.

    This word phrase strikes fear. loathing and confusion into the hearts and minds of MLM or network marketers. By and large, the consensus from these fine folks would be more attuned to the old attitude of using spam emails to blast out ads to two billion locations for free, knowing full well that someone, somewhere, will find their latest business, signup and make them money. Oh sure, all the big gun gurus will tell the story that the money is in the list; therefore, the MLMer will spend untold thousands on worthless leads, in order to pursue what they believe to be the most exciting and lucrative way to earn money on the Internet.

    When the term market research, or marketing research is mentioned to these fine people most likely their heads will begin to spin around on their bodies and they will become so confused as to its meaning, that they will just go and do another email blast to try and offset the brain squeeze that has just overcome them.

    There is no need to make this all up as this author has witnessed this type of thinking on far too many occasions. Knowing full well that the money is not in the list, but how you approach and utilize the list and provide those readers with great information, rather than used car salesman pitches, is the road to glory in marketing on the Internet. Without clearly defined goals, no business, whether online or offline will survive. Just thinking that a product or service is good is not enough. Just having a site live on the Internet, will not make a sale if no one sees it! I would think it a positive move to actually learn something about marketing, research, evaluation and advertising to anyone seeking to build any type of business!

    Take it from me, they will not! They will refuse any attempt made to even suggest that work is going to be involved in this process of growing a business. They want to live in their "follow the yellow brick road" fantasy, and choose to try to stuff their envelopes to make money. Anyone who has tried the oldest scam in the book, knows of what I am speaking. They may just perceive that marketing research would be a bunch of three pieced suit bureaucrats sitting around a table in New York City, planning their next big campaign for Frosted Flakes. However, there is much more to indepth research than that, and by the way, you do not need to wear, or even own a suit to conduct this type of research! No one here, at the Internet Marketing Agency does!

    The e-services boom/bust will doubtlessly be debated in business schools for years to come. But it's certainly an appropriate time now, with the Web e-services sector 5 years old, to consider how the successful e-services firms will be serving their clients during the Web's second five years.

    One fundamental conclusion is clear: Until and unless Internet marketers transform themselves into a unique and caring person focused on delivering real services and relationship marketing results, they will continue to lose their leverage.

    Consider some of the most rancorous and foul email experiences most of us continue to endure:

    "Hi, I just visited your site and if you are like me, you are trying to succeed on the Internet too. Please visit my website to learn how to make $5,000 per month in just 7 days. I did and you can too. Go to http://get-rich.net"

    "Hello Friend, If you want to learn how to make money on the Internet, please call me right now. 888-555-1212."

    "Get in at the top. Did you know that 90% of the Millionaires in the world got their by getting in first before the rest of us did? Now is your chance. Go to my website and sign up today! http://get-rich.net"

    "Dear Entrepreneur, This is not spam. Why? because I said so and I have your email address because you gave it to me last week, remember? Anyway, do you want to make some money in the home based business revolution? Just return this email to me at marketmaster34320opr5@hotmail.com and I will send you all the juicy get rich quick details."

    I exaggerated that last one, but, seriously, some of them are that bad..

    At the core of this marketing silliness is typically something I refer to as "relational discharge" -- a lack of connection between the recipient and the sender. Nothing comes close to building trust, much less the soft touch.

    As a result, you don't give the recipient a single reason for interaction. You're unable to learn much about what your recipients look like, much less a chance to develop a real relationship. And you certainly can't effectively deliver personalized content and offers to them this way.

    Successful e-marketing more and more is about interconnecting and personalizing the information and that's increasingly as much about organizational culture and awareness, as it is about design and technology.

    Marketers with a heritage just in web design or mass marketing will have a hard time. And with the prospects' perception increasingly shaped not by the advertising you do but by the quality of their interaction with you, traditional mass marketing techniques are vastly becoming dinosaurian.

    Does this mean the coast is now clear for marketers, particularly direct marketers, to jump in and save the day? Direct marketers often believe their off-line marketing skills map directly to interconnected web and e-mail campaigns.

    In the last article concerning marketing, we tapped into some common problems found in trying to market a business on the Internet. The only logical conclusion that one may reach is the fact of the matter that research should always be followed with a clear goal in mind. Once that goal is determined, it is then time to conduct marketing research.

    Marketing research is the function that links the consumers, customers, and public to the marketer through information. That information is used to identify and define marketing opportunities and problems; generate, refine, and evaluate marketing actions; monitor marketing performance; and improve understanding of marketing as a process. Marketing research specifies the information required to address these issues, designs the method for collecting information, manages and implements the data collection process, analyzes the results, and communicates the findings and their implications. Marketing research is the systematic gathering, recording, and analysis of data about issues relating to marketing products and services. The goal of marketing research is to identify and assess how changing elements of the marketing mix impacts customer behavior. The term is commonly interchanged with market research; however, expert practitioners may wish to draw a distinction, in that market research is concerned specifically with markets, while marketing research is concerned specifically about marketing processes

    Marketing research takes time to develop. For example, in our marketing research concerning franchises, we have uncovered some interesting and enlightening facts about the franchise business model that we had no idea that we would find. Marketing research is time intensive, and requires great patience to diligently pursue.

    It is an undeniable, and quite mysterious fact of nature that those entering the hallowed halls of SOHO promoting know very little about the very thing that they are trying to achieve.     Over the years, I have been guilty of this probably more than anyone else, but the fact of the matter is, that when I began to actually research all these minute details, I uncovered amazing facts. Those facts now have allowed me greater freedom, functionality, and takes away their veiled threats of not letting my information go out to the areas that I wish it to go. You see, this is all part of the growing process called marketing. Marketing is the only way that you could ever uncover these gems of wisdom. If you simply choose to go down the same path that everyone else goes, you will archive those same results.

    Once again, I am not going to mention any names, but I am sure that you will get it when I talk about one of the most popular blogging systems seen out there on Big Brother today. In our marketing research and testing, we have uncovered the real truth about Worthless Press. They are perhaps the worst propagators of spam, scam and hype found on the Internet today. In excess of 450,000,000 of these so called blogging sites can be found out there, and not one, and I repeat, NOT ONE, is considered anything more than a piece of worthless digital trash. No authority sites listed on the Internet today would come near a Worthless press blog.

    Have you ever wondered exactly why Worthless press has so many updates? Supposedly they are trying to keep your special little piece of digital trash safe and secure. But wait a minute. You are not being hacked by the outside forces, as you are already loading up plugins, templates and various, once again, free stuff, that literally takes your seemingly harmless piece of marketing material, and makes it fair game for the good old boys to come and overtake all your stuff, and use it to their advantage.

    Today's Bullpen Marketing Strategy

    Marketing and marketing research is the integral part of the puzzle that most people who are attempting to build a business using the power of the Internet, fail to do adequately. Researching markets and trends is the way to establish the proper mindset towards that process. Those who are basically driven by the passions of MLM and network marketing, will only be drawn to pitching sales deals, sending out spam email, and basically trying everything in their power to convince, coerce or sell their exclusive products and or services.

    The bullpen marketing strategy begins with bringing together a few people, who are wanting to research a particular business in detail. These people should gather together in a web conferencing environment, as this is the best place to communicate and convey ideas with others. Within the privacy and protection of this type of bullpen group, the business model is discussed, and the benefits and solutions will be weighted to determine if it is indeed a good business plan. There will be many details discussed like searching on Alexa.com for results, backlinks and the overall evaluation of the business in question in regards to the competition that will be faced when the promoting process begins.

    From this point, the group will shift focus and go into the obvious downfalls of the business model in question. Further research and evaluation will be done, and over a period of time with this back and forth dialog, certain gems of wisdom will be uncovered. This particular research marketing strategy should be done each and every time a new business venture is found. One should never take for granted that the business is valid and supported, before conducting bullpen type discussion groups. It is vitally important to realize that businesses should always be built by using market research techniques, for if one does not do this, the eventual outcome of the business in terms of making money, will be significantly diminished.

    The Brick and Mortar Bull Pen

    The Brick and Mortar Bull Pen Did you know almost all successful marketing campaigns start out in the Bull Pen? Do you know what a Bull Pen is? I do, because I used to own an ad agency. I am sure many of you reading this are somewhat new to or mystified by the real marketing process. It is not sending or post ad messages to buy your product or service or join your latest get rich quick program. But from where I sit, that is what most self proclaimed Internet marketers do.

    All professional ad/marketing and product/software development comes from the Bull Pen. A Bull Pen is comprised of a group of people from a wide spectrum of levels and profession/education into a conference room. The common thread is these people are a loose nit group that is somewhat familiar with the product/service being discussed.

    Our Bull Pen had the account executive(s) for the client, the marketing Director, the Art Director, maybe a few designers, even the receptionist and the shop manager included. We would start out by identifying the obvious objective. We need to establish sales, increase sales or establish branding for this product/service/software etc.

    The entire group has equal input and is usually directed by a leader. They can last for hours or be especially dynamic and the concept is identified within minutes. This is how we identify keywords, markets and campaign concepts. It establishes a place to begin. It gets everyone looking at the project from the outside in.

    At times after several potential concepts are established we would make up several illustrated story boards or reports and then hire a small unrelated focus group that fit the demographics of the targeted market group we felt was effective then get their objective reaction to several of our potentially targeted campaigns.

    This would help us get a really good perspective of a solid campaign. Then the marketing and creative team would go to work creating a much more developed presentation for the proposed marketing strategy based on intensive research and development of a final draft.

    Again we would convene the Bull Pen members and hash out again. This process almost always gave us excellent direction, kept us honest to the strategy and produced measurable results.
