Nepal to host 18th SAARC meet

KATHMANDU: The meeting of SAARC Council of Ministers concluded in Addu Atoll island of the Maldives today approving the Standing Committee decision to hold the next SAARC summit in Kathmandu in early 2013. According to an official at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting also reviewed the past agreements and understanding reached among SAARC countries and pledged its through and effective execution.

The 17th summit of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation will be inaugurated in Addu Atoll tomorrow.

The heads of state and government from all eight member-states of SAARC, including Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai of Nepal, have already reached Addu city for the summit. PM Bhattarai will address the summit tomorrow.

PM Bhattarai arrived at Gan International Airport in Addu City this morning, where President of the Maldives Mohamed Nasheed welcomed him.

Later in the day, the Prime Minister unveiled the Nepal monument to be displayed permanently in Addu City, according to PM’s Office. Bhattarai had a meeting with President Nasheed this evening.
