Invicta FC 2 lineup complete with 13 bouts, tickets on sale Friday

Invicta Fighting Championships' second all-female fight card is now official.

Company executives today announced the 13-bout lineup for Invicta FC 2, which takes place July 28 at Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kan.

As MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) previously announced, the night's main event features Olympic silver medalist Sara McMann (5-0) against seasoned submission ace Shayna Baszler (14-6).

"With our second event, we are bringing in top competitors from all over the world in order to deliver a card stacked, from top to bottom, with some of the best matchups in the entire women's field of MMA fighters," Invicta FC president Shannon Knapp stated.

Tickets, which start at just $25, are available for purchase at Ticketmaster.com and InvictaFC.com beginning Friday. Broadcast plans for the evening's main card have yet to be announced.

The 31-year-old McMann is the first American woman in history to earn a silver medal in women's wrestling, earning the honor at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games. She made her professional MMA debut in May 2011 and has since racked up five consecutive wins.

Baszler, trains under recent Strikeforce heavyweight grand prix finalist Josh Barnett. Thirteen of her 14 career victories have come via submission, including finishes by twister and her patented "Shwing."

Too bad Roxy Modafferi seems to be on the way out, would have love to seen her fight on this card.

_SilvasavliS_ on May 29, 2012 at 2:17 pm ET

that is an awesome card !!  Heavy Metal Baszler vs. Sara McMann the wrestling beast.

Baszler gets slammed, and then gets a toe hold.  hahaha.

Anyone that follows WMMA is excited about this card, Carmouche, A. Davis, A. Nunes, Kaitlin Young, great fighters.

Glad to see Budd got her arm back.  Ouch !!

Were I a gambling man, my money would be on McMann. That gal is the real deal. I look forward to seeing her square off with Rousey one day.

_SilvasavliS_ on May 29, 2012 at 2:35 pm ET

she is very powerful, and her wrestling is VERY technical (I believe she's a Silver Medalist in Olympics.)

I think she can slam any woman in the sport, but whoooaaa, Rousey would take that arm off !!

I think she has a chance vs. Baszler, but Baszler is always tough and very crafty with her subs and transitions to subs.

Really? You believe she is a silver medalist? Its not like that was mentioned in the first sentence of the third paragraph. Junkie should hire you cause your depth of knowledge is always impressive.

_SilvasavliS_ on May 29, 2012 at 4:20 pm ET

and do you believe everything you read?

rancor_ on May 29, 2012 at 4:39 pm ET
Nope. But I wouldn't try and make it seem like I had background knowledge of something posted in the first 10 sentences either.

_SilvasavliS_ on May 29, 2012 at 4:35 pm ET

and, I've seen a few of McMann's fights and her being a silver medalist is mentioned each one.

It's been confirmed by multitle sources.  THAT is why I "believe" it.  Glad all you need for confirmation is a single article.

Smart guy.

So you spend all day commenting on every article on Junkie, but don't believe the article, nor read it before commenting. Thanks smart guy, for sharing your independently sourced information in the comment section of someone elses article. I look forward to your website, or publication, so you can showcase your legitimate skills in mma journalisim.

uh huh.  Don't be jealous.  Who cares what I post?  You?

_SilvasavliS_ on May 29, 2012 at 5:38 pm ET

and, I'm blown away by your MMA knowledge as well.  Top ranked poster for sure.

rancor_ on May 29, 2012 at 5:44 pm ET
You seem to have a complex. Probably more than one. Its okay, if this is where you need to feel validated. I actually signed up just to respond to you, so in a way, I guess I do care what you post. What I dont care about, unlike you, is being a "top ranked" poster. I would like to say the typical "I'm done responding", take my ball and go home... But I have a feeling you'll need me again.
Take it sleazy!

_SilvasavliS_ on May 29, 2012 at 5:47 pm ET

Keep staring at my nuts, just to don't respond to me (try to touch them) anymore.  Thanks.  Keep reading here on Junkie.

But don't post.

_SilvasavliS_ on May 29, 2012 at 5:54 pm ET

and, I love WMMA.  Hate on that.

DeezKeyz on May 29, 2012 at 4:16 pm ET
I love Rousey to peices but McMann would whoop dat ass. Rousey's 1 flaw in grappling is she doesn't focus on controlling position. She lost top position quite a few times (Tate, Stradford, Tweet). She has quick submissions but a wrestler like McMann would get top position, hold her down and grind her out. McMann would win the stand up too.

Chris27 on May 29, 2012 at 2:32 pm ET
if McMann wins she has to be signed to SF, right? The winner of that fight probably would be signed to SF and fight the RR/SK winner for the title.

UFCisSHADY on May 29, 2012 at 2:55 pm ET
Hehehe, SF is dead, but keep hope alive.

SingleLeg on May 29, 2012 at 3:30 pm ET
Yeah, one of the most simulatneously cool but also crappy things about this card is the number of recent Strikeforce fighters on the card.  Cool because it's good to see top fighters like Alexis Davis, Amanda Nunes, Liz Carmouche, etc. get fights and it's cool that Invicta FC has put together another great card.  But it's crappy to see that Strikeforce apparently just isn't that interested in booking these women new fights in Strikeforce.  Which is a shame, especially considering that the women's 135 division in Strikeforce is the only division in Strikeforce where they have the top talent in the world and yet they only seem interested in putting together title fights and number one contender bouts there.  Sarah Kaufman's first fight after losing her title to Marloes was in another organization...  how does that even happen?

Anyways, the good outweighs the bad here, and I'm glad another Invicta card is happening and I won't be surprised if this promotion really takes off.

UFCisSHADY on May 29, 2012 at 4:43 pm ET
Sarah's contract allows her to fight for other promotions. Same with other fighters, not really shocking news.

Nice lineup, but I wanted to see Coenen on it  : (

Waynes World

shut_the_Fitch_up on May 30, 2012 at 2:02 am ET
no no, I know that much lol, but what is her patented shwing?

She has a move she performs against opponents called the Shwing?  Or was Junkie just saying that she just brings good looks to the cage?...

UFCisSHADY on May 29, 2012 at 2:54 pm ET
Definition of a stacked card. Looking forward to it.

Adebisi on May 29, 2012 at 2:57 pm ET
Swing Shwing Shwing!

theOptimus on May 29, 2012 at 4:48 pm ET
Yesss!!!!!  First  Invicta card was epic btw.

TONY2GUNS on May 29, 2012 at 5:30 pm ET
maybe some air time would be nice. the card is stacked all night long.

UFCisSHADY on May 29, 2012 at 5:53 pm ET
Every fight will be streamed.

That's a very strong main card. The undercard... not so much, but whatever. I had to check but apparently Carla Esparza is legit no longer with Bellator anymore, strengthening the possibility that the ties to Zuffa are more than casual. If I were running a Women's Strawweight division, Esparza would definitely be a priority signing, even if she's not Fujii or Aguilar. I like that Akano's on the card but goddamn can't she fight in her natural weight class more? She keeps getting trounced by people bigger than her.

Everyone be sure to report Marcianomagic for posting inappropriate comments about anal sex.
If everyone reports him he'll be gone very quickly.

rw1060 on May 29, 2012 at 8:24 pm ET
Marciano is harmless although I agree that an originally funny joke is growing old. Corn old, even. UFCisSHADY is a bona fide troll that everyone seems to have no problems tolerating, so I say Marciano sticks around.

MarcianoMagic on May 29, 2012 at 10:43 pm ET
I have nothing to worry about, they haven't banned me yet they arnt going to ban me at all. Haven't even used any profanity to get banned for so this Celmare is wasting his time and probably losing sleep.

Even if I have used the term alot today I have actually provided to a few discussion, where as Celmare has just argued and caused confrontation. Wouldn't be surprised if he gets banned

_SilvasavliS_ on May 29, 2012 at 11:06 pm ET

Lighten up, Celmare !!

GhostSearch0077 on May 30, 2012 at 8:38 am ET
Thank God for Invicta FC, cause it seems that WMMA isn't getting the attention and respect that it truely deserves. Shame on StrikeForce for ignoring these girls. If StrikeForce were to survive into 2013, I think they need to step up and sign more girl fights.
