TRENTON, N.J. – Original Trenton Titan and NHL veteran Todd Fedoruk has been named the team’s assistant coach, the Titans announced Wednesday.

Fedoruk, 32 and a native of Redwater, Alta., who will be behind the Titans bench with head coach Vince Williams for tonight’s game with the Reading Royals, appeared in 18 games with the original Titans in 1999-2000, registering two goals, five assists and 118 penalty minutes.

He went on to play in 545 NHL games from 2000-01 to 2009-10 – with the Philadelphia Flyers, Anaheim Ducks, Dallas Stars, Minnesota Wild, Phoenix Coyotes and Tampa Bay Lightning. In addition to notching 32 goals and 65 assists, he amassed 1,050 penalty minutes in his role as an enforcer.

Fedoruk was in the Vancouver Canucks’ preseason camp prior to the 2011-12 season.

“We welcome Todd back to the Titans family and are pleased he decided to accept our offer to join Vince’s staff,’’ said Titans President/CEO Rich Lisk.

Fedoruk has made the transition from player to coach and is excited about the opportunity.

“Moving from playing to coaching is a transition, but one I was certainly ready to make.’’ He said. “I feel, with my experience in many hockey situations that I can really be of help to the Titans players.

“I’m also here to support (head coach) Vince (Williams) in any way I can.’’

Williams is glad to have Fedoruk behind the bench with him.

“Todd gives me another set of eyes and ears as far as observing what goes on both in the games and practice,’’ he said. “I’m quite pleased to have Todd with us and look forward to his contributions.’’
