Impressive photos indeed. I like #33 most. Central park is an amazing place.

  • Sorin

I can say that New York isn’t the greatest city in the world. It is great but not the greatest. It has only buildings, huge buildings, one park and some bridges. It cannot be compared with many cities in Europe or Asia. Each city is unique. The French people would say Paris is the greatest city in the world, the Chinese people would say Shanghai is the greatest and so on. Greatness isn’t measured in money or number of tall buildings, it is given by history, culture and people.

Brooklyn, Queens (not just the cemetery, airport and ball park) and Staten Island are also New York City. Manhattan is one of FIVE boroughs, knuckleheads! From a real (not tourist, not transplanted, not a trust fund hipster) New York!

Just one of them. Rome is older, Mexico is bigger, Rio is more exotic, Shanghai is more impressive, Dubai is fantastic.

  • asiequana

I’ve lived or done extensive business in all of the great cities of the world. For every reason New York is the greatest city in the world – for food, art, culture there is no were else in the world like it. New York is the melting pot of the world. You go to Rome you will only get Italian food, Italian music, etc. In New York you can eat any type of cuisine you want and it will compare to the best in the respective home country. The museums, concert halls, etc. are also incomparable. Though granted Lincoln Center needs to be torn down.

You think New York is polluted? Look at the visibility in these photos. I challenge anyone to do the same in most other major cities. Shanghai? Forget it. That’s pollution. On most days you can barely see across the street.

The only other places I might ever consider living is Vancouver, Singapore or Chicago in that order.

  • Jeff in NC

I grew up in Brooklyn and driving to Manhattan was just part of my life; I was never much of a public transportation person. Moved to Florida and now I line in NC; I am called a “Halfback,” meaning I’m half-way back. Who knows, maybe one day I’ll return for good.

I sat looking at these pictures with tears in my eyes thinking about how wonderful a place NYC really is and how so many will never know its glory and splendor because they just won’t have the opportunity (for myriad reason) to experience it. Zmey mentioned many other great cities, most of which I’ll probably never see; but, at least, New York in ingrained in me to the nth degree and, to me, nothing beats it!

When I was a kid I marveled at how anyone from anywhere, any country, could find something that reminded them of home. They could buy publications in most any language at a newsstand on so many streets in Manhattan. Any type of food was getable in NY. Not only in restaurants, but little markets as well. And, Zmey, no matter how great the other cities you mentioned may be, there is NO PLACE else in the world, that I know of, of which that can be said. The theatre district alone makes NY stand out for innumerable reasons; England may have its West End, but nothing can compare to the Broadway experience!

This post has made my day. THANK YOU?!

  • Lev Litsin

Yes, here is my New York – the Gteatest City in the World! And I can show you my Home on the picture of Upper West Side and Central Park view. But…usually only birds can see Manhattan from this point of you. The real, human, everyday New York is on the level of it’s streets, parks and avenues. And it’s amazing, uncomparable and beautiful.
When you are here – you are in the center of our World.
    All the rest – around…
New York, New York… Our beloved Big Apple.

  • Leon Elkin

To Sorin (July 15) and Ebiz (July 15):
O guys, I’m so sorry for you! You have to see it live, or you can only regret of that all your life.
Ebiz, if you want only “to die” here , so… even that much better than do it in any other place in the world.
Sorin, it’s not “only tall buildings”! It’s not “ONE park”(?) There are 80 parks in Manhattan only! And Central Park is one of the World’s Miracles, the Real Nature in the heart of the greatest City! There are nowhere something like that. And…when you live here you almost don’t see these “only tall” buildings. You are just happy, saying “Thank G-d, you let me to live here…”
So…all you said is just ignorance and envy, nothing more.

A very good collection of photos. I feel like I’ve just been in NYC again, all buildings look so familiar!

  • http://Juno.com exnewyorker

Those pictures were great. However, if you really want to see New York City (all of its boroughs) as it is, you need to do it at street level. You need to see all the varieties of lifestyles available, from the sidewalks with piss trails leading from bums, to everyday beach scenes showing the wonderful variety of people doing what they like most on a bright sun-shiny day. Complete with the sounds and smells of that event. You need to see the train rides throughout the city, as well as the street levels for the tourist and native gawkers. Its just too bad someone didn’t invent the ability to smell all the food varieties available to be placed into scratch and sniff mode, for all the German, Indian, Greek, Italian, etc. restaurants.
Ah, well the photos were great despite all the above.
Thanks for the memories…it sure does a person good to see how NYC has progressed in the 40 years since I last enjoyed the scenery.

  • Punkindrublic

Absolutely marvelous collection of shots. I’ve usually seen NYC from high altitude enroute somewhere else and have always marveled at the city whether day or night. Thanks for some close-ups most would probably never experience from a plane or taxi.

I left Queens in 1976 to live in Utah. This is where my wife is from. I worked on Wall Street for 5 years.
Have been back “home” numerous times to see family.
Will be returning on Saturday 7/31 with Wife, daughter, son-in-law and 4 of our 8 grandkids.
Can’t wait to have them take in all the “Magic” of NY.
    Thanks for posting these pictures.

Before 911, I used to fly to NY in my private plane and fly low over the Hudson below the top of the trade centers and make a circle over the Statue and Ellis and fly over the Verazzano and land in Teterboro. It always impressed my guests. I don,t think they would let you do that now. Too bad.

Having been to a majority of the “great” cities of the world, nothing can compare to NYC, not merely Manhattan Island (I lived there for 20 years), but the whole vibrant mass of the unbound ethnicity of the City – but nevertheless all Americans. I back to the City from the southwest once or twice per year and its like getting a “fix” on Americana – the City has it all. By the way on Photo 45 from top to bottom are (1) the NYC municipal building [1 Centre Street]; (2) the United States Court of Appeals (2nd Circuit)[40 Centre Street]; (3) to the left the United States District Court; (4) the six sided building is the NY County Supreme Courthouse [60 Centre Street].

I Grew up on Staten Island and would like to see it from above also. These pictures brought back memories of riding the ferry every day, working on Wall street, seeing Broadway shows, watching events at Madison Square Garden and catching trains from Grand Central Station. I still visit my East Coast sister and brothers every chance I get. Seeing “New York from Above” is so good, and seeing Central Park reminded me of when my sister took me for the carriage ride. She brought lunch and we spoke about “the old times”. I’ll save this sight as a bookmark and visit it often. Thank you.

I have to tell you that these photos have brought tears of beauty and sadness to my eyes. I have never experienced NYC but I hope to some day. I am a small town girl from northern California and when I see photos such as these it just blows me away to see the beauty that stands in all areas of the United States. Thank for sharing those aerial photos. I especially like the first photo Of Manhattan, the beautiful Statue of Liberty and the photos taken at night time the lights just gave me an aw ha moment.

Living in wide open spaces, I can’t imagine what it would be like to live or work in a place where the only time you can see the sky is when you look straight up. No moon, no stars, no eclipses. Concrete jungle is an understatement.

I’ve been to Manhattan a couple of times since 9/11/01. I’ve seen the obscene gash cut in its heart. I think it’s very significant that from most angles in these pictures, ground zero isn’t visible. It’s as if the rest of the city has wrapped itself around the wound. It’s dazzling and defiant! Kudos to the photographers for capturing such beauty.

  • Bob B.

I am retired now and have worked in this City for 38 years. I was fortunate enough to have seen many of these images live, from the upper floors of many of those buildings. what wonderful photos,Iam a native New Yorker whois very familiar with Manhattan, Looking at these aerial views I can easily say that a mosque 2 blocks away would have no impact of any kind on the WTC site. You wouldn’t even know it was there
Thanks to the rabble rousers for making it an issue

  • Elizabeth

Fabulous photos! I enjoyed seeing them so much, but, as someone else mentioned, a few too many of Citigroup, etc. Personally, I would have loved to have seen the old GE building (570 Lex) and St. Bartholomew’s as well as St. Patrick’s Cathedral. If you go back again, how about showing the WHOLE of Manhattan focusing in on its connections to the other boroughs and to New Jersey (George Washington Bridge)? Admittedly, the other boroughs themselves lack appeal for aerial photography but their connections to Manhattan would be fun to see especially the Bronx which is the only part of NYC on the mainland of the USA) .

Born in Manhattan in 1951, Beth David Hospital, Moved to Long Island with parents/sisters till I was 17. Grandparents lived on 72nd & West End Ave. since the ’20′s and I moved in with Granny (Grandpa died) to take care of her and advance my acting career. My sister moved in with us and is still living in their apt. under rent control. I moved to 3 other apts, all within a 5 block radius cause I love the upper West side, the parks both Central & Riverside park where I took photos of other actors while doing Godspell on B’Way @ Prominade theatre. I have been living in the Santa Cruz redwoods of CA so. of SF since 1978 when I made a major life shift. Traded tall buildings for tall trees and only miss the city when I want deli late @ nite, want to see a show like non-other on B’way, take a dance class in a room with a smell like non-other, see 1000′s of people just by taking a walk and seeing pics like this. Brings such warmth to my heart. I got views like this when I did the movie of Godspell and danced on the tops of many great tall buildings, including @ that time the yet to be finished World Trade Towers. More pics of the upper west side from Riverside park, please. 72nd subway is sooo famous, in lots of movies and merits a pic, don’t ya think? The cloisters, etc. thank you xxoo JJ

Its sad to see people asking why this or that wasn’t photographed?? If you don’t like the photos or think something is missing take your own **** photos. I am glad they are posted and the photographer has chosen to share them. People always seem to have something negative to say sitting behind there computers in the comfort of their own home. And for the posters who said parts of Manhattan are missing, rent a helicopter for a day, take photos of the buildings etc that have been left out, use your own money, post them, and then let us critique your work??? Sounds ridiculous doesn’t it.

Born in Queens, lived on 78th and East River in early 60s. I will never forget the magic of NYC, being young and living the life. Live on West Coast now, but these photos make me want to go visit and soak it all in again. Thank you for the these memories.

No wonder it’s called the center of the world. Even only having been there a handful of times I’m homesick for the deli’s. Going out now to buy a slab of corned beef and French bread.

I was born, raised and educated in NYC and I rnjoyed it all (1940-1968) but would not want to live there. Too many people and an insane pace of life.

As a resident of this great city, I found the photos both beautiful and well framed. The focus of the essay was from midtown to lower Manhattan. It did feature two shots of the other boroughs, Queens (the Long Island Expressway) and the Bronx (Yankee Stadium at night). New York is a diverse and vibrant city and not limited to large buildings and stadiums. Images of upper Manhattan which include very photographic structures such as the George Washington bridge, the region of Hells Gate (where the RFK bridge units the Bronx, Queens and Manhattan) and our shore lines (i.e. the Rockaways, City Island) are just some examples.

  • M. Morgan

There are many attractions for visitors to New York City to see and plenty of things to do in New York City. From famous buildings and landmarks to parks and festivals. To be honest i like it all and at the same time I like Metropolitan Museum of Art the most

  • Sharon

I loved the pictures, and one day I hope to visit NYC. I am Very Happy that I live in Oregon and that I have my Mt. Hood to look at, my trees and all the green areas and of course the coast.

Fabulous pics of the city that never sleeps. Great view of the apartment buiding on 21st across the street from the VA Hospital. Friends and family live there. A great place to go for a visit. Love it, and can’t wait to go back

Born Beth Israel Hospital, LES, 1961. Left when I was 6. Have lived back there on and off. Now in Boston. Whenever I go back (or “home”) I feel instantly a part of the place, like I never left. These pictures explain why: energy. Pure urban energy like nowhere else on the planet that I’ve been to.

  • Adam

Very lovely pictures, but I view them as someone who goes into NY regularly looking at a tourist’s album. The part of New York that enderes itself to me is where I have memories of things rather than what things look like from far away (I’m a lifelong Mets fan and find it normal though sad that there is no picture of rotten old Shea Stadium where I saw my first major league game and where I first took my boys). Very few of your pictures have people in them and it is truly the people that make (in both senses of the word) New York.

  • http://newmillenniumrecords.com/geist/jgeist.html Jeff Geist

As a long-time New Yorker (Manhattanite) I guess it’s appropriate to be reviewing pictures of the city here (even sites I’m familiar with), particularly – given here on the 9th Anniversary of the WTC Disaster – you never know what’s going to be here today or gone tomorrow. Speaking of “here today, gone tomorrow, my favorite pic” is of the old Yankee Stadium from 1923…the one that was torn down last year.

I was born and raied in The Bronx and loved looking at these wonderful pictures. All I was able to say to myself was “WOW”.

Little did I know the visits I made to the World Trade Center’s Twin Towers, at the Restaurant up top, another couple and me, both childless then, would one day both parent, see these towers crash down, and now each of us is widowed. I remember when the Towers were first built. Empire State Bldg. was then the tallest until then, and now again! So many memories gone with our existences whose memories fade long before our bodies deteriorate and die. Nothing else compares to NYC whether you love it or hate it. I will hope to have pix always to share with generations to come, long after I’m gone forever….

Fantastic! Wonderful eye candy! Born in Brooklyn, raised in Queens, live on the west coast now & miss NYC often: the architecture, the food, the history. I tell the hubby if we win the lottery we will become bi-coastal, keeping a fantastic apartment in the neighborhood where I lived the first two years of my life: Brooklyn Heights! Took him there 5 years ago and he liked it too.

  • tom mcdermott

What is striking is how many of these buildings are downright ordinary or even ugly. Take away the Empire State, Chrysler and a few other buildings, and you’re left with thousands of really nondescript structures. Then the cityscape looks like Sao Paulo or a dozen other overgrown megalopolises. I don’t know if we’ll ever recover from the architecture inflicted on us in the last half of the 20th century.

Concrete canyons a far cry from my local redrock Utah canyons. Would hate to be an endangered species there, dependant on some remnant of the natural world that ultimately sustains us all, even those in skyscrapers who need food, clean water, uncontaminated air, etc. Seems like a very fragile and vulnerable magic kingdom.

Being a Manhattan resident, I know the dates of many of the pictures are incorrect. Between building’s be built, or certain antenna arrays, there are a bunch of inaccuracies. Not to mention some of the shots say July, but the foliage (and rooftops) look more winter like.

    Otherwise, great group of shots!

Such a great collection of photo’s.. Having been to the big apple on my route to Europe and the war, 1945, and again on my way home in 1948, never saw the building as I am seening inthese photos. Took a tour with ladies from Trieste Italy there in 2006, and we saw a lot of the city, but again these are the best I have ever seen of the makings of a city.

I grew up in Queens but some of my family came from Red Hook section and then to Bensonhurst area of Brooklyn. Although I miss the “City” my home is still where I was raised.
I am a transplant in another state, my heart still belongs to Manhattan and all the memories that came with that city.

From Working on Wall Street along with my friends of the Little black church on Cortland Street. We used to have lunch with the pilgrims graves, at Trinity Church!

I miss Greenwich Village, where I used to strum my guitar along with Mary Travis when she was then no so famous.

I miss the Mulberry Street where all the Good Italian Food comes from and the Museum of Natural History. The best no place on earth can ever take the place of NEW YORK CITY, no wheres not even Las Vegas. This is the place where you can get a Knish and a Sabretts Hot dog at 3 am… and no one says “Do you have to be home?” I love Manhattan, Alot of great memories there… I miss my old boyfriend Joe Hall… where ever you are my electrical friend.. he will always have a special place in my heart… My Hippie Friend.
I will also miss Upstate NY where the Woodstock too place when I was 13 I went to it. I saw things that would make NY turn Green… with envy.. but overall, NY IS still number one with me.

I left my heart in Greenwich Village …. along with my older friends Love you Manhattan!

New York City, I was born upstate and got to see NYC once in my life during my high school senior class trip in 1960. This is a great compilation of photos of a place that’s definitely a nice place to visit, but in my case I never thought I could live there. Beautiful pics, done very well.

  • Bob Abner

Wonderful pix, but you couldn’t get me to live anywhere near Greater NYC for all the proverbial tea in China. I have been to NYC on a number of occasions (as a musician, as a driver and as a tourist). TOO MANY PEOPLE AND TOO MUCH CONCRETE–that’s one of the many reasons why New Yorkers seem crazy to much of the rest of the country. But I did attend a nice concert one time when I was there (Tower of Power). But so many headaches–I always felt like a rat in a cage whenever I had to visit NYC!

    But these ARE great photos!

I was an Estimator, then Project Manager for one of NY’s Glass & Glazing contractors during the early 70s through the mid-late 70s. My geographical responsibility was Manhattan (NYC). I had a hand in many of these buildings, including the WTC.

    Brings back memories.

This was wonderful… NYC sure is the most beautiful city in the country if not the world.

Manhattan is a magical place and I am so grateful that you shared these photos with us.

From one aspect it shows man’s incredible abilities and art. But from another, it demonstrates the folly of overpopulation, of his inability to see his weaknesses, that this sort of thing is unsustainable, that band-aid solutions are not going to work in the long run.

  • Chris Pospisil

What wonderful memories. All the nicest buildings and what great views. It was almost as though I was flying around that magnificent Island! Trips to Manhattan were always special as I was growing up …who can forget Horn and Hardart, Chock full Of Nuts, Rockerfella Ceter Chirstmas Tree, the Museums and Raido City Music Hall? I grew up in Queens, moved to Staten Island and now live in Fairport, a suburb of Rochester, NY. I still call NYC home and look forward to our visits to family and friends.

  • Okie Omi

My hat is off to Daniel Acker. What beautiful photography, so clear and sharp! Thank you for sharing New York City with us. I too was looking for reference points. Is Grand Central Station still there? Fifty-five years ago I saw Manhattan bathed in sun light as the ship “Berlin”, that brought me over the ocean and the wide horizons from Germany, went passed the Statue of Liberty, leaving us all awe-inspired. “Not so fast, please,” I told the taxi driver who took me from the pier (don’t remember which number)to Grand Central Station. I wanted to see all the skyscrapers and really had to twist my head to look upward. So many memories… As Frank Sinatra sang so long ago: “New York, New York – it’s a wonderful town…”

I grew up in the NYC area and almost 60 I could never leave. I’ve watched it grow. It has always been invigorating to me, but in the last 20 years, it has changed from being dangerous, gritty and intimidating to inspiring, beautiful, exciting and welcoming. • http://- Manil Gunawardene (from Sri Lanka)

    This is amazing!

Perhaps New York will be the only place on Cool Planet which looks so graceful with all its permanent structures that mercilessly pierce, stab and scrape the sky, but there’s a point to grouch! – however impressive it may look, the ratio of buildings to trees is appalling! Lucky that New-Yokers have ample air-conditioning; otherwise all the concrete that absorbs heat of the day and exudes it in the night may turn it into a veritable slow-cooking oven, as it normally happens in the parts of the world where people are les fortunate.

Anyway, thanks for showing your beautiful city from a birds point of view!

Stunning pictures which have encouraged me to find more indentification of buildings so that I can recognize more when I’m flying over..even visitying..wow. I am glad that carbon eating, oxygen emitting trees and other foliage are not too far away.

  • Jim Pope

Great pictures but sad having been born in Manhatten and lived on Mott Street opposite St Patrick Church (between Mott and Mulberry Streets).
The landscape has changed since and the residential houses were small aqnd can not be seen. It still brings fond memories. Thank You for the latest view. Jim

These images tell a story of a proud city. I can see the public housing projects I grew up in and the corporate buildings where I once worked as an ad agency creative. The city was like a living novel full of stories. Glad to be part of that novel. Great images. Thanks for the view.

  • Shridhar Taranath

These are superb photographs of a great city. Enjoyed watching all the major points of interest even though I have seen them at close proximity while visiting New York.

  • Louise Betts

I grew up in Queens, and had worked in Manhattan years ago. These were such great pictures. I saw where my mom and dad use to work. I have moved to the country since.
When I worked in the city, I had gotten used to all those people and buildings in one area, but now it seems
so crowded. I’m glad that the people in the city have Central Park to help give them clean oxygen, considering all the traffic polluntants in the air every day. If Manhattan wasn’t built on rock, it couldn’t hold all those skyscrapers…so many different shapes of buildings.

Thank you for letting me take the aerial tour, right here in my home. I enjoyed it.

  • Steve T. Sobel

Thanks to photographer and rail enthusiast, Ken Borg of Dearborn Michigan who thought enough of me to send me these wonderful photos of my hometown. Born and raised in Brooklyn, Flatbush Section, I enjoyed many many days while growing up there. The photos are simply excellent and should be seen by everyone, whether you’re into photography or not. These are keepers along with sharing this with a few other friends who I know will enjoy these photos.

Ahhh, home! Beautiful photos of my life 15 yrs. ago. Native of Staten Island but moved out west for my job. I certainly miss is all…especially the culture, intellect and education. NOTHING compares to is out here except Yellowstone and Grand Teton N.P. Otherwise, the mainstream mindset is absurd. Thanks so much for bringing home back to me.

It was a pleasant surprise to see much of the work I performed in NYC over the past 43 years.

In picture 10 the lower building I had just completed the installation of 5 roof drains that were visible in the picture.

It felt great seeing my work captured on these amazing pictures.

I grew up in Brooklyn, lived in Manhattan for 15 years, now reside in the fabulous Bronx. I never tire of the aerial view every time I fly over the city. I lived in the white building on the East River Drive just north of the Manhattan Bridge, on the river side looking at Brooklyn where I worked. My mother lives in the Southbridge Towers complex at the Manhattan side of the bridge. The photographs are fantastic. Thanks for posting them!

  • Cele Keeper

My first trip to NYC was in May of 1943. I was 16. It was a high school graduation gift from my rich big city uncle. I fell in love at first sight. l have visited from TX sometimes three times a year to see theatre and wrap myself around the city’s ttreasures. Not so often any more: I’m 83. Thanks for the glorious look from above. As I fly in, I still get a lovely thrill from looking out of the plane windo.,

  • http://denverpost.com Matt

well I love mi city and N Y is to big and dirty,Idont live five hours in that place.

  • Dave

    Interesting pictures.
I hardly recognized the city I grew up in.
Before WW-II, there were building regulations that required a certain amount of sunlight on the streets. Then the “skyscrapers” were tapered, far apart and had distinctive looks. Now, there are lots of ugly parallelopipeds crowded together. But the newer ones are showing some signs of individuality.

I woulld not like to move back to NYC again.

  • Marilyn

Look the pic. Lived there for over forty years. There is nothing like New York…I miss the Big Apple! Long live NYC!!

    Hi

I went to Manhattan and stayed at the Sheraton in Times Square within walking distance of MoMa, The Museum of Modern Art.I also went to the Guggenheim. No visit to New York City is complete until you see these venues. Th4e Russian Tea room is a great place to eat. The big glass bear aquarium as you enter the dining room is amazing! Sylvias is also a great place to eat.I get photos using Fugi disposable cameras, and I got a perfect shot of the statue of liberty.West Point is a side trip you might want to take and have brunch at the Thayer Hotel. You will need picture I.D.to get into the Point.Your aerial views of NYC are outstanding in every respect!

Great shots and looking at the vertical city with zillions of people working and living on top of each other sure makes me grateful I am not there. This is the best way to see NY City as sure can’t see much when you actually there, exept maybe on the Circle Cruise.

What cool shots you made from the air !

It was my first trip to the Big Apple, and I especially liked the Guggenheim museum, and The Museum of Modern Art ! I went to MoMa on a Friday, and the line waiting to get in was about 2 city blocks long ! I have been a member of MoMa for 5 years,so I used my card and got right in ahead of everyone ! Go and see both museums. You will definitely not be disappointed !

My husband, John S. Simon talked about being a taxi cab driver for years. He lived in Manhattan for 14 years. I have never been to New York, Manhattan or New Jersey where he has been. As a former New Yorker your Plog is great. Some pictures could be further clarified like #21 The Met Life building formerly the Pan Am Building built in 1961-62 over Grand Central Terminal. Northbound Park Avenue traffic goes around and through the building going north.exiting by 230 Park Avenue. #42 also has NY Borough Hall at the top, the Center Street Court House left with One Police Plaza top left near the Brooklyn Bridge approach ramps. A number of your lower Manhattan pictures should mention the circular structure near a ferry, which is the NYFD fire service, is a Civil War fort at Battery Park. Thanks.

Had the pleasure of working on Wall Street litterally the 41 floor of One Wall for thirteen years. What a wonderful life. I walked to work from Greenwitch Village many times. The Lexington Express ran into One Wall so on weather days it was my commute. Flying my Mooney 231 into NYC at night from the east they route you over the center of La Guardia at 2500 feet tell you to head for the Empire State building drop down to less than 1000 feet (well below the tops of the WTC) turing left over the Hudson river to the Statue of Liberty then out over the Varazano Narrors bridge and a right turn into Linden NJ airport. What a way to come “home” from the Cape. Is that still allowed?

Moved to Orlando Florida May 21st of 2010 from Upstate New York and I must say that there is no other greater site to see then there is in NYC. New York City is by far an amazing and beautiful city, if the people don’t catch your attention, then the awesome size of the buildings will. I will always be a New Yorker at heart no matter where I go.

The photo of the jet flying over the cemetary was probably
photoshopped. The right engine has the reverse thrust on
and the left engine is normal. I think that the plane may
be a Boeing 717. Nice photos otherwise.

Tax dollars from all 50 states pay for infrastructure all over the country. Any Federal funding that goes to Kentucky also comes from the Federal tax pot not just from taxes paid in Kentucky. Maybe all localities should pay their own way. If that were instituted then I fear that NYC would be just fine (as there is a ton of wealth there) and Kentucky would become even poorer.

Unfortunately, most corporations are greedy and keep those nice houses at the expense of those who have lost their jobs…or who just aren’t paid enough. I wish we could figure out how to even out the playing field without being accused of being socialists. I will never understand why people don’t just do the “right” or “good” thing and participate in making this a better world for all of us. I don’t really understand greed.

Nice pics, but I’m not a fan of big cities. I do like how Central Park looks, though.

The greatest city in the world, no doubt, and I am proud to have grown up in Brooklyn with access to “The City,” as we called it then.  I have lived in Florida for 38 years, more than half my life, but I am still a New Yorker and always will be.  Plays, restaurants, the exciting mixture of people, the magnificent skyscrapers, the great universities, the churches and oh, those museums. I am booking a flight as we speak-need my New York “fix” at least twice a year, or I will lose my Noo Yawk accent for sure.  These marvelous photos capture its essence.  Kudos to the photographer!
