Summit 2007

World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates

8th WORLD SUMMIT OF NOBEL PEACE LAUREATES
Rome – 13-15 December, 2007
“THE NEXT GENERATION”

The World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates is one of the most prestigious events to be held in Italy each year.
In the past some of the most eminent personalities in the world have met at the summit: not just those who have been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, but many prominent men and women of culture, historians and scientists who are working together in the hope of dispersing the dark clouds that still loom over the new millennium.
The event is organized by the Municipality of Rome and the International Gorbachev Foundation with the collaboration of the Permanent Secretariat of the Nobel Peace Prize and will be held, as every year, in Rome.
The Summit is set to begin on 13th December at 10 am and it will end with a press conference on 15th December.
In a world in which peace is constantly prevented by violence, poverty and injustice, all people, especially the young, have a vitally important role today in furthering the peaceful coexistence of the peoples of the earth and in ensuring their very future.
That is why the Nobel Peace Laureates have chosen “THE NEXT GENERATION” as the main theme of the eighth edition of the Summit. What kind of legacy will we leave to an increasingly interdependent world? Can we still hope for the peaceful progress of humanity and how can we create a culture to sustain and support our highest aspirations? In order to deal with the new challenges of the future we will all have to answer these and many other crucial questions.
