The Shetland Islands are an archipelago of 100 islands and islets forming the most northerly section of the British Isles with a current population in the region of 23,000. They lie further north than Moscow and south Greenland. This property is located at the north end of the most northerly Island of Unst overlooking the iconic Muckle Flugga lighthouse, on the most northerly rock of the British Isles. Saxa Vord is the highest point on the island and the property is located just below the summit adjacent to a fenced compound comprising an operational military site


From Shetlands main town of Lerwick head north on the A970 then the A968 following signs for the north isles. The ferry port of Toft is approximately 27 miles north of Lerwick. Take the ferry from Toft to Ulsta on Yell and then drive across Yell (20 miles approx.) to the ferry port of Gutcher and take the ferry to Belmont on Unst. Follow the A968 for approximately 8 miles through Baltasound to Haroldswick. Go past the fi rst road to Haroldswick and then turn next right (signed for Saxa Vord Resort). Take the next turning on the left (signed Housifi eld) and the site is at the end of this road after approx. 2.2miles.


This is a most unusual opportunity to acquire a significant amount of unique property in a unique location. The property comprises a selection of single storey, fl at roofed buildings including a bunker unit with 6 thick walls, one three storey, hardened office building clad in profiled metal sheeting, and a selection of associated structures on an area of sloping hillside. The buildings are primarily made of re-enforced concrete and although they have not been measured in detail extend to something in excess of 500m2 (5,400sq ft).
