Dr Shannon Wood Gallegos

Naturopathic Doctor & Licensed Midwife

Personal Beliefs:

Dr. Shannon Wood firmly believes an individual’s support and surroundings are the most important factors in healing and achieving autonomy in life.  She believes that the all people should be entitled to informed and empowering choices about their own health care decisions. This philosophy of empowerment and support is the fundamental premise for her relationships with all her clients.

Path into Wellness:

Dr. Shannon believes that the ideal model of care is to educate her clients and ensure a sense of community. This sense of community was instilled in her from a very early age growing up in a small town outside of San Francisco. It was the love of her family and her small town upbringing that gave her a sense of what community means and how integral it is to every individual’s wellness.

At the age of ten, Dr. Shannon knew that her path would be in medicine, but it was her graduate work in nutrition that led her to a unique approach to healing. This unique approach consists of not only creating a supportive environment by listening attentively, but truly treating each person as an individual. She see’s herself beyond the general confines of a women’s health physician, but more important, as an educator to help lay foundations to live a whole life.

Dr. Shannon attended the California State University, Chico where she received a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences and a minor in Chemistry. She went on to complete a Master’s Degree in Nutrition and Food Science at Chico. This provided her with a new direction for her medical training, as she realized the true importance of preventative care.

This led her to Bastyr University, where she graduated as a Naturopathic Physician in 2005. She also completed the Naturopathic Midwifery program and has assisted her clients in hundreds of births, including extensive work internationally.

Life Experience:

After completing three years of graduate school, she had the opportunity to explore her other passion, which is her love for travel. She was a flight attendant for United Airlines stationed in New York City for three years. This allowed her the opportunity to see and experience cultures throughout the world.

In 2005, Dr. Wood participated as a midwife in a local hospital on the island of Vanuatu. This clinical experience combined both her love of traveling and her passion for childbirth and woman’s health. Although childbirth will not be part of the new programs she will be creating at onvo, she feels it was the essential foundation in understanding the elements of women’s health.

After traveling around the world and living in large cities, one thing that has not changed is Dr. Shannon’s longing to educate and regain a sense of community

Dr Susie Moss

Naturopathic Doctor

Path to Wellness:

Dr. Susie Moss ND received a diagnosis of Diabetes Mellitus I at age 16 and this began her path to wellness. She had to confront illness and work to manager her condition and her health. Over the years she became discouraged by the results she was getting from the western medical approach to her disease. She wanted more - she wanted to feel and function at an optimal level. She began exploring and educating herself on alternative and came across the field of Naturopathic Medicine. She discovered that, by studying naturopathic medicine, she could obtain a thorough understanding of how the body works and how disease processes develop. Yet she would learn how to treat the body from a natural and holistic point of view. She is empathic towards others because she knows what it feels like to have a health challenge. She also knows how much one's health and life can be improved by employing a natural approach.
