Paul Lambert will take his lions to Peterborough United as he begins to finalise preparations for the 2012-13 campaign.

Lambert's side will travel to London Road to face Darren Ferguson's team on Wednesday August 1, kick-off 7.45pm.

It is the latest friendly encounter scheduled for the claret and blues.

They begin against Burton Albion on Saturday July 14 [3pm].

Then there's the tour of the USA. Villa take on Philadelphia Union on Wednesday July 18, Chicago Fire on Saturday July 21 and Portland Timbers on Thursday July 24.

Following the Peterborough clash, it's then on to the City Ground for an encounter with Nottingham Forest on Saturday July 14 [3pm] before a neighbourly clash with Wolves.

The match will be played on Saturday August 11, with a 3pm kick-off.

It will represent one of the first games in charge for Ståle Solbakken, who took over in the Wolves managerial hotseat a few weeks ago.
