“He advocates PARENTS assaulting and abusing their children. I stand by my assertion...he favors child assault and child abuse. Is that clear to you now?”
“Physically more attractive by whose standards? Beauty is subjective. And if you're talking about some model-hot woman with a pudgy, balding guy who is 5'5", I bet things are real happy because his bank account is as big as his belly!
Of course, what's inside is the most important thing, but stop being PC and pretending that you'd date someone who looked like Frankenstein because he had a winning personality!”
“Meow. You sound like a typical, materialistic American. Just to get your hate genes operating, I have to inform you that there are much nicer females in the world. In 2003 when I was 69 I met and married my wife who was just turning 20. She was and is beautiful and desirable and I am somewhat plain and poor. Nevertheless we have had 10 wonderful years together and love each other totally. Never a fight or even an argument. Just days and nights of total peace and love. Pity that you are so frustrated in life.”
“I don't advocate hitting other people's kids, but where was the boy's mother while he was being hit 25 times? I often see kids in stores running around like maniacs while their oblivious parents are on their merry shopping spree. This is frustrating as a shopper and even more frustrating as a retail worker.”
“No. Kids will be kids. When I was five, my seven-year-old cousin and I decided that we were going to see my dad--in Sierra Leone! Our grandfather, who was supposed to be watching us fell asleep in front of the TV and we took out an encyclopedia and found the map of Africa so we'd know where we were going. We packed up our little suitcase, took our favorite stuffed tiger, and got ready to head to corner to take the city bus to Africa! Just as we were walking out the door, my 12-year-old cousin was coming in from school and told us to get our butts back in the house. I can't imagine what would have happened if we had actually got to the corner!”
“twenty years ago the bus driver would have taken you around the block and brought you back and told you you needed to go home and check your map again and to ask grandpa to help you figure out the route this time. LOL”
“I keep seeing "better then" and other instances of writing "then" instead of "than". These are not typos. I want to hit those people in the head with a dictionary!”
“At one point, I thought "have I been using the word 'nauseated' wrong for all these years? Nope! Everyone else is saying "nauseous" when they mean "nauseated".”
“Who do you date? Do you date any random human? Not everyone looks like a supermodel, but at the same time everyone has some standards of what they individually find attractive. We don't have to be PC and pretend that looks don't matter in any way shape or form. The guy in the commercial may have a wife, girlfriend, boyfriend, or whatever in real life that is fine with the way he looks and there are many that don't find him attractive. Life goes on.”
“Thinking people are more interested in what is inside a person rather than their looks. A study, published in the Journal of Family Psychology, that showed that couples in which the woman is physically more attractive than the man are happier.”
“Retail stores no longer hire(or take the time to train, it seems)competent people.
I went into Target once and asked where I could find a humidifier and the sales associate looked at me as if I was speaking Chinese! She had to get another person to find out what a humidifier was.
Another time I was in the drug store looking for pipe cleaners for an art project and the kid told me aisle 7. I kept going up and down without finding them, so I asked him again and he assured me it was aisle 7. Again I didn't find them there so I went to the cash register and found them by the tobacco products. I couldn't figure out for the life of me why he told me the wrong isle more than once, so I went to aisle 7 and realized that Drano, Liquid Plumber, etc. was in that aisle.
I'm not that old, only 38, but I swear that many young people act as if they've never stepped foot inside a school in their lives. That's why when I go to stores, I rarely ask for help because the sales people often act like they're brain dead!”
“I'm surprised to still see Radioshack around. I just think of being a kid in the late 70s/early 80s and I remember the cheap electronic toys we bought from them that never seemed to last very long. By the age of twelve, I said I'd never shop at Radioshack again. (Or at least ask my mom to get me anything from them!)”
“What were people supposed to do, beat her or chain her to the bedpost to keep her from leaving? She's a grown woman and free to do what she likes, She could have easily vanished while traveling in the U.S, We shouldn't blame this woman for trying to live her life to the fullest. Sometimes bad things happen and it's no one's fault except for the person who killed her.”
“Your rant has absolutely nothing to do with what I said. If you got off your high horse and paid attention, you'd see that my post was in response to your arrogant attitude which makes is seem as if one is a complete imbecile for not knowing the definition of an illegal hotel. You need to switch to decaf or something!”
“There's this thing called GOOGLE. How difficult is that? People can sure spend time on a message board displaying their lack of knowledge, but it is far too time consuming I guess, to click on Google and type in three words.
There's no excuse in this day and age to not educate oneself.”
“We wouldn't be "cheap" if we didn't have to pay hundreds or thousands of dollars for basic health care, overpriced cellphone and internet service, more than half our monthly salaries on rent, etc.”
“Unless you are in real estate or the hotel industry, who would know this? Don't be so judgmental. Do you know every law and business regulation that exists in every industry in the country?”
“ALL people should educate themselves. When people want to rent a house or condo for vacation, if they don't educate themselves on the laws at the destination, they're stepping into a legal mess and they will indeed end up in the middle of it. If the price is too low, there's a reason for that. An informed consumer is going to avoid this kind of mess.
I generally know business law and know about permitting, licensing and regs. If I am putting money into anything (i.e. a rental property for holiday), I educate myself. I don't want to lose my hard earned money. One who puts money into an unlicensed property can not only lose their money, they'll be in a big mess legally. Caveat emptor.
There are people who rented homes not far from us, only to have lost many thousands of dollars each when they arrived and found that the ' home' they rented was actually a permanent residence of a family who was home for the evening OR they arrived to find a vacant lot or a condemned house. And there are property owners who have been indicted for renting illegally, and those who rented the property lost all their money.
It's NOT ok to rent illegally. And if you value your own hard work and money, you'll check it out.”
“Any building should be safe, but what's the difference between an "illegal hotel" and someone renting rooms on their private property? What distinguishes one from another?”
“What makes this an "illegal hotel"? If I own a building, then I am free to rent out space to people for a specified amount of time. How do you distinguish between a "hotel" and someone just renting rooms? This makes no sense to me.”
“Safety standards must be met through inspections of water, sewage, heating/cooling installations, infestations, housekeeping standards such as laundry, fire prevention/sprinkler systems, extinquishers, etc. Renting a room in your home is one thing. Bed taxes aside, multiple commercial rentals are quite another.”
“That depends how important your children are. Some people focus on the kids, some focus on themselves. You're free to do so, it's just not a parental thing to do. ”
“Why is is unusual? She wanted to take the trip and her accommodations and airfare might have been already paid for when the friend cancelled. Do you think that women are such timid little creatures that they'd never dare travel alone in the big, bad world without company or "permission" from their husbands, as other people have been stating?”
