Kim Kardashian is once again facing criticism from members of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) -- this time, though, it's not for fur. Instead, the reality star was seen sporting Christian Loubitan boots made out of real python skin.

"They’d go well with a Dalmatian-fur coat, which is also illegal to sell in California and immoral to sell anywhere else," PETA representative Wendy Wegner said in a prepared statement, according to Gossipcop.com, which reported Kim was spotted wearing the boots in Paris while shopping with boyfriend Kanye West.

Kardashian isn't the first celebrity to be criticized for wearing snakeskin as an accessory. Jessica Simpson, Catherine Zeta Jones and Lindsay Lohan have all been the subject of PETA's ire for doing so in the past.

Last November, when Reese Witherspoon was seen carrying a $4,000 python skin bag, PETA promptly made her aware of the process by which such items are made, which they say can include the animal being nailed to a tree and skinned alive. The organization sent Witherspoon a video, narrated by her "Walk the Line" co-star Joaquin Phoenix, about the treatment of reptiles for the sake of fashion. Soon after, Witherspoon issued a statement saying she'd never wear the bag again.

Kardashian, on the other hand, already has quite the storied past with PETA, and its unlikely she'll be ditching her boots any time soon. The reality star has been the subject of PETA's criticism many times for her love of fur. The group gave her a "Celebrity Grinch Award" during the holidays this past year, and prior to that, they erected a billboard in Beverly Hills featuring a photo of her wearing fur alongside a picture of some fox cubs.

"Kim: These babies miss their mother. IS SHE ON YOUR BACK?" the billboard read.

Kim's sister, Khloe Kardashian, was previously a strong supporter of PETA -- even posing nude for them at one point. But Khloe and PETA parted ways this past spring after her sister was the target of a flour-bombing attack.

PETA said they had nothing to do with the incident, though they did offer to pay the legal fees of the woman responsible if criminal charges were filed.
