Great Wall Motor's Bulgaria KD Plant Officially Put into Production

On February 21, 2012, grand opening ceremony of Great Wall Motor's Bulgaria KD Plant was held in Litex Motors Automobile Assembly Plant. The assembly plant, jointly invested by Great Wall Motors and Litex Motors, was established in Bahovitsa, a village with convenient transportation located in the suburbs of Lovech, about 150 kilometers far away from the capital city, Sofia. According to planning, this assembly plant having more than 120 employees covers an area of about 500,000 square meters and is designed to equip with production capacity of 50,000 units. Voleex C10 will be the first assembled model, and Wingle 5, Voleex C20R, and Haval H6 in future. In the hope of getting more job opportunities, local authority and residents feel delighted to see the establishment of this plant.

Mr. Boiko Borisov,(Bulgaria's Prime Minister), Mr. Guo Yezhou (Ambassador of P.R. China in the Republic of Bulgaria), Mr. Gricha Ganchev (President of supervisory board of Litex Commercial JSC), Mr. Iliya Terziev (President of Litex Motors), Ms. Wang Fengying (President of Great Wall Motors), together with other Bulgarian government officials and department leaders of various industries, presented at this opening ceremony. Moreover, chairmen and senior management of Bulgarian companies relevant to industry, trading and banking were also invited to attend the ceremony. About one thousand people in total, including all employees of Litex Motors and other representatives of Great Wall Motors, participated in such a ceremony of historic significance. Besides, journalists from over 50 global media conducted spot coverage and report for it.

After VIPs' speeches, short videos about Voleex C10 and the project history were displayed for revealing of the first batch of Voleex C10 assembled in Bulgaria and ribbon-cutting ceremony for opening, which not only indicated Great Wall Motor's Bulgaria assembly plant officially put into production, but also symbolized launch of the exclusive car assembly plant in Bulgaria. This assembly plant is also the first one built by Chinese auto brand in an EU country.

Bulgaria's Prime Minister and other VIPs, expecting products can be put into market soon, speak highly of those advanced production equipment when they are visiting this Plant after the opening ceremony. In the end of last year, this KD Plant was awarded “Building of the Year” in the architecture field of industry and logistics. The whole judge panel considers this assembly plant is equipped with energy-saving and environment-friendly flexible technical skills and equipment. With its leading concept and plan for architecture design, they believe it will create great economic benefit in local, after being officially put into production.

15 years have passed since Great Wall Motors began to export its products to overseas markets. The establishment of its Bulgaria automobile assembly plant will be a new milestone for Great Wall Motors to develop international market, also a symbolic event for Chinese auto brands to challenge high-end market in EU.
