About

I have a degree in English Literature but studied art all the way through school. In fact, I can’t remember a time when I didn’t turn to either paints or pencils as a means of release. I love animals, and have come to relish portraying family pets as, well…family. Everyone I know treats their pet as an extension of themselves, so I like to think I produce quirky yet emotive paintings that effectively capture what it is we treasure most in our furry companions.

My canine partners in crime are Border Terriers Maggie (Mayhem) and Rusty (Rascal). Mags has a tendency to pick fights and chase deer (she started, Fenton copied), whilst Rusty likes to finish my tea and eat soft furnishings. Maggie has an alarming knack with social media, and has her own twitter account that you can follow here. Knew I shouldn’t have given her a Blackberry. They have begrudgingly posed for me on occasion, so if you have a glance through some of my work you may spot them.

I paint other things too, but my favourite subject matter continues to be of the four legged variety- wet nose and wagging tail optional. I’ve got plenty of hobbies and interests, but will say that my favourite things (apart from family, friends and the usual) are tea, lots of chocolate biscuits, Classic FM and copious amounts of Jilly Cooper. All at once. You think I’m lying…?

Some completely random, irrelevant things about me:

I’d love to write a novel one day, but right now I don’t think I’m disciplined enough- blogging is as close as I’ve gotten and I’m not very good at that.

I’m Sussex born and bred, and as a result Lewes bonfire is the highlight of my year. It’s a totally ridiculous, offensive, amazing tradition that links our whole community and I wouldn’t miss it for the world.

In another life, I want to be a country music superstar. I can’t sing- at ALL- but love the music and all the values it represents. I think there’s something old-worldly and wonderful about those ideals. Plus, I really like cowboy hats.
