Oct 08 2005 - NEws, NeWs, NewS

RockMag
has published the tracklisting from  See You On The Other Side.

01. Twisted Transistor
02. Politix
03. Hypocrites
04. Souvenir of Sadness
05. 2-Way
06. Interlude/Throw me Away
07. Love Song
08. Open Up
09. Interlude #2
10. Coming Undone
11. Getting Off
12. Liar
13. For no One
14. Interlude #3/I've Seen it All
15. Tearjerker

01. Twisted Transistor: The first single of the album starts with a cavalry trumpet, we can hear cries, it's war all around. The guitars begin, it sounds clear, there are some samples and beats that makes feeling like jumping around. It's not so far from "Untouchables" sound, and from the funky Cameo cover: "Word Up!". The song's structure is not as easy as it seems the first time you hear it, it's not classic, more progressive, but it does not shock at all.

02. Politix: Begins with a typical loud 70's riff, the ambiance sounds KoRn, sounds dark and all that KoRn stuff. Jonathan uses some hip hop gimmicks, and the chorus is really agressive. The verses are much of "Issues" kind. It will be a huge live song.

04. Souvenir of Sadness: That song starts with loud and heavy guitars, which let some room to some wicked, mecanic rythmns, it's really freaky. The middle bridge is full of guitar effects which are going everywhere as fireworks. Still there, the sound and Jonathan's voice too remind more of "Untouchables" than their last record, "Take a Look in the Mirror". That song is clean and powerful, a great compromise between "Untouchables" and "Issues".

10. Coming Undone: You get an enormous riff in the face, with a slow strong rythmn. It's like a tank coming in front of you, lovely and strange. The rythmns are more simple, the guitars lay down a dark and gloomy ambient. As the whole album, it's a song which takes all his intensity after many listenings.

Twisted Transistor Video info + thumbnails:

"When KoRn frontman Jonathan Davis got frustrated that MTV never seemed to play rock videos anymore, he had an idea: why not get a bunch of the band's friends who are hip-hop stars to play KoRn in a video. That's exactly what transpires in the clip for the new single, "Twisted Transistor," which finds Lil' Jon, Xzibit, Snoop Dogg and David Banner stepping into the roles of Davis, bassist Fieldy, guitarist Munky and drummer David Silveria, respectively.

"Davis tells Billboard.com the idea came to him, of all places, while he was cruising around on a yacht in Monte Carlo with Silveria and Munky. "I flew it over to Dave Meyers, because he's the go-to guy for great hip-hop videos, and he spun it and wrote the treatment," Davis says.

"Although Davis declined to reveal specifics, he confirms KoRn appears "somewhere" in the video and that the rap stars will be seen playing instruments, since "they're in our world. Just getting four rappers in the same place is near fucking impossible, but we pulled it off."

"Davis says in addition to the standard-length clip, there will also be a seven or eight-minute mini-movie version. "It's so amazing," he enthuses. "It's one of the coolest things I've ever seen."

"As previously reported, "Twisted Transistor" is drawn from KoRn's upcoming Virgin debut, "See You on the Other Side," due Dec. 6. Davis says the group recorded 12 songs with hitmaking production team the Matrix and another eight with producer Atticus Ross.

"The regular version of the album will have 14 songs, and there'll be a special edition which has 17," Davis says. "The whole record in its entirety is so different. There are some straight-ahead, heavy rock tunes, but they're a different kind of heavy. It's like we have this industrial bastard child that flailed its head out of us."

"KoRn will play a handful of shows before the end of the year, but Davis says he expects a full North American tour won't get underway until March or April."  Full article on billboard

More from an MTV article;

"It's basically a video with hip-hop stars playing us," singer Jonathan Davis explained. "And they're doing a really good job. They've done their homework. Such a good job, in fact, that it takes a few seconds before realizing, 'Hey, that's Lil Jon singing, not Jonathan Davis.' 'And that's Snoop Dogg in the dreads and bodysuit, not Munky.' 'And that's Xzibit wearing Fieldy's signature headband and David Banner banging on David Silveria's drums.'"

The concept for the video comes from being frustrated that rock videos don't get as much airtime as they used to. Director Dave Meyers refused to give up too much about what happens in the clip, but he said the rappers took a complete plunge into the rock world.

Meyers originally wanted to mock Silveria's stint as a Calvin Klein model in 1999, dressing Banner up in underwear -- much to David's disagreement. "I said, 'Hell no! No way!'" Silveria said. "And it wasn't an underwear ad, it was jeans."

This isn't the first time KoRn have worked with these guys. Lil Jon produced a Public Enemy cover the band recorded last year, Snoop has toured with KoRn a few times and shares their management, and Xzibit shares an accountant with some of the guys. As for Banner: "He plays the drums great," Davis said.

Feb 28 2004 - Head News + New Song Clip

It was a bit misleading to say he left because he became a Christian. He says it's just another step on his path of self-discovery, that he's sick of chasing "the almighty buck", and that he felt that he couldn't be respected by his 6-year-old daughter if he continued with .

Head has been struggling with this for over a year without the band's knowledge, and in fact has been gradually growing dissatisfied with the band's direction ever since Life Is Peachy.

He feels that the other band members were definitely very upset by his departure, because it came at "the worst possible time", with the band just having left Sony and getting ready for a new journey.

His new music, under the "Head" moniker, will not officially be Christian music but will be like a more positive extension of .

More on why head left here: http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1497484/20050225/KoRn.jhtml?headlines=true

His new web site will soon launch at http://www.HeadToChrist.com , which has addresses by him, and some clips of his new music.

Feb 23 2004 - More Head Related News,  The Future of KoRn, Head Tribute

"KoRn has parted ways with guitarist Brian 'Head' Welch, who has chosen Jesus Christ as his savior, and will be dedicating his musical pursuits to that end," a statement from the band reads. "KoRn respects Brian's wishes, and hopes he finds the happiness he's searching for."

The announcement puts to rest weeks of rumors that Welch was unhappy with KoRn's direction. On February 8, he had apparently written a "letter of resignation" to the band's management. In the note, Welch detailed a long list of reasons for leaving the band, including increased moral objections to Korn's music and videos. In particular, he was upset by how he was portrayed in the clip for their cover of Cameo's "Word Up," off their recently released Greatest Hits, Vol. 1 album. In the video, Welch's face was superimposed on a dog patrolling a strip club.

"I can go up there and play those songs and those solos but ... I distanced myself from KoRn for probably a year and a half, two years. I just wanted to fade away, it was crazy. I was so gone," Welch told Bakersfield, California, radio station KRAB on Sunday. "But I found my way out and I want to help anyone that wants to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I had to go through the lows to appreciate the highs and it's not perfect but it's damn near."

Welch plans on further explaining his decision to leave KoRn this coming Sunday, when he'll address the congregation at the Valley Bible Fellowship in Bakersfield, California. And on February 28 he plans to leave for Israel.

KoRn formed in 1992 as the Bakersfield metal act LAPD, which featured Welch and guitarist James "Munky" Shaffer, bassist Reggie "Fieldy" Arvizu and drummer David Silveria. In 1993, vocalist Jonathan Davis joined the group, and they rechristened themselves KoRn. Their self-titled 1994 debut went double platinum and was hailed as a landmark album in the burgeoning nü-metal scene. The group released six studio albums with Welch, sales of which have topped the 11-million mark in the U.S. alone. Their final album with Welch, Take a Look in the Mirror, was released in 2003.

According to KoRn's management, the band is currently in the studio working on a new record, which is due in stores in September.

— James Montgomery [MTV News]
