Rusty the pool man
Raging Rusty swaps his ID for Considerate Crowe whenever he rolls into the North Coast town to kick back at his rural retreat. And for good reason.
In addition to sponsoring local footy team the Orara Valley Axemen, the actor has contributed $200,000 to the local primary school to install a swimming pool by the end of the year.
Crowe kick started the initiative, which comes at a total cost of $800,000, after a boy from the school drowned at Coffs Harbour beach in 2001.
"The many things he does up here, people just don't know about," the school's principal Laurie Renshall told Confidential.
"We've been trying to get a pool for 10 years and we can't do it with a chook raffle. Russell has got this project off the ground."
