Mr. Andrew Pickup joined the NURC (now CMRE) in November 2011 as Deputy Director and Chief Operating Officer. He joins the Centre after 15 years in the UK Defence Science and Technology Laboratories where he held appointments as Chief Scientist of the Land Battle-space Department and Department Manager of the Policy and Capability Studies Department. He also served as a scrutineer in the UK MOD Scrutiny and Analysis Directorate.

Prior to this period, Mr. Pickup worked for 10 years in the SHAPE Technical Centre, and subsequently NC3A, as an Operations Research Analyst. Mr. Pickup has a masters in Mathematics from the University of Oxford. He is a fellow of the UK Operations Research Society and a fellow of the UK Institute of Mathematics and its Applications.
