The Newington-Cropsey Foundation preserves and displays the home and artwork of Jasper F. Cropsey, Hudson River School artist. Cropsey's home, Ever Rest, is listed on the National Register of Historic Sites. The Foundation provides an opportunity for the public to experience historical and cultural examples of life in the Hudson Valley in the 19th century, as well as an opportunity to enjoy the works and home of one of America's finest artists.

The Foundation also provides educational programs in order to advance and promote the values inherent in the 19th century works of the  Hudson River School painters. These values include the belief that God created nature and that man should respect and protect nature. Strong national pride of America and her natural unspoiled beauty was a constant theme of the Hudson River School. The Newington Cropsey Foundation strives to maintain and promote these cultural values.
