Mitt Romney is getting a boost from a super PAC airing ads that criticize President Barack Obama’s distortion of Romney’s business record, the
National Journal reported.
American Crossroads announced a 30-second ad buy to run in nine states: Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Michigan, North Carolina, New Hampshire, Nevada, Ohio and Virginia, the Journal reported. The $9.3 million buy is the first from Crossroads to defend Romney, the others focusing on Obama’s record and government spending.
The ad, called “Smoke,” opens with criticism of Obama’s ads, and then references the spiraling debt, drop of incomes, and stuck unemployment rate.
Obama “can’t run on that record,” the ad states. “What happened to Barack Obama?” the narrator says, according to the Journal. “The press, and even Democrats, say his attacks on Mitt Romney's business record are ‘misleading, unfair and untrue.’”
"Barack Obama can't run on his failed record so his whole strategy is trying to put his opponent through the shredder," Crossroads spokesman Jonathan Collegio said in a release. "This ad shows that the glut of his attacks are misleading -- and one only runs ads like that when trying to hide a failed record like his."
American Crossroads describes itself as “dedicated to renewing America’s commitment to individual liberty, limited government, free enterprise and a strong national defense through informed and effective political action.”
