Update to Pilot and Aircraft Requirements

An updated "Pilot and Aircraft Requirements" document, now at revison 2.1, published on February 15, 2012 has been published in the Documents area of the web site. You can download it directly by clicking here or go to the "Documents and Downloads" page and downloading the PDF under the World Gliding Championships 2012 Documents banner.

Update to Local Procedures Document

An update to the Local Procedures document has be released (Revision 1 available here which superceeds Revision 0 released on Jan 12 2012). This updated document contains modifications and additions to section D [Technical Requirements] regarding collision avoidance devices.

Uvalde Glide Concludes, Worlds Next

With the conclusion of Uvalde Glide organizers and competitors look ahead to the 32nd World Gliding Championships in Uvalde. This year Uvalde served up a mix of weather with a few blue days, a few threats of thunderstorms and a few classic Uvalde racing days. Congratulations to the winners in each class which were Makoto Ichikawa of Japan in 15-Meter with 7140 points and Bruce Taylor of Australia in 18-Meter with 7394 points.

Team Entries Update

Team entries are rolling in for this years World Gliding Championships. Sixteen teams with over 68 pilots from around the world have turned in preliminary entries to the Contest Management Team. You can checkout the team and pilot entries here or by clicking on the Teams link under the Contestant Center menu on the left.

August 11th, 2011 Rest Day Called

Thursday August 11th, 2011 has been called a Rest Day. After 7 days of flying in good to great conditions, all parties decided at the Wednesday morning pilots meeting that Thursday would be a Rest Day. With possible thunderstorm activity potential being high from late afternoon to the evening hours this decision look to be the right one.
