STATUE OF SIR ALF RAMSEY UNVEILED -PART 1

Statue`

A life-size bronze statue of former England and Ipswich manager Sir Alf Ramsey has been unveiled in Ipswich by former Town star Ray Crawford.

Sir Alf's widow, Lady Ramsey (above) was a special guest as well-known figures from the world of football gathered at the spot adjacent to the Portman Road ground.

Among those present were players from the Ipswich side of Sir Alf's era and members of the 1966 England World Cup-winning team, including Sir Bobby Charlton.

Sculptor

Another special guest was the sculptor, Ipswich town fan Sean Hedges-Quinn (above). The statue is the culmination of an 18-month project by the Supporters' Club.

Sir Alf led Town to the League title in 1961-62 before going on to greater glory with England. He died in May 1999.
