Album: World Record Holders
Producer: Kanye West
Label: N/A
In 1999, Kanye West was probably best known for ghost producing for Deric “D-Dot” Angelettie and placing a few beats on the otherwise weak Harlem World project (if you go real deep you knew about the Grav album, but that’s a whole other story completely). But also in the late ’90s, Kanye was busy rolling out his own stable of artists and producers in Chicago.
Since Kanye was on papers with D-Dot, he couldn’t release a solo project, so he formed the Go-Getters with his Chi-Town cohorts GLC, Timmy G, Arrowstar and Really Doe so he could start dropping his own music. The Go-Getters were the brainchild of John Monopoly, Don C and Happy Lewis, who managed Kanye under their company Hustle. The Go-Getters released their one and only album, World Record Holders, in 1999, which was distributed throughout the Chicagoland area.
World Record Holders was more of a compilation from the Kon Man Productions family, including other notable Chicago rappers like Rhymefest and Mikkey Halsted. Production was handled by Ye and his proteges Boogz (“New God Flow”) and Brian “All Day” Miller (“Champion”).
One of the standouts from World Record Holders was the bouncy, upbeat club-banger “Let Em In,” which was midwest bounce at its finest (in fact, it sounded like a mixture of Crucial Conflict and Timbaland). The track featured a noticeably more hardcore Ye (who threatens to body the bouncer) trading verses with a young Gangsta L. Crisis and Timmy G.

haha 100 best songs? Yeah...right....lets just list all his songs. Kanye isn't Elvis. How about a top 25 list? This is dumb.

Its a top 100, not a top 10..
no lol July 23rd, 2012 at 02:36 PM
haha you really just cant do this with kanye he has different songs that appeal to different people. The fact that you put so many features on here definitely shows how badly done this is. Im sorry man this just isnt that great. Just let people love kanye. Why not make a Kanye West songs that are underrated? Maybe that would be better?

A good list! Kanye is one of the best performers of the last decade, so it is not surprising that he'd have many good songs on this list. I'm happy with the top 3 , Runaway, Flashing Lights, and Can't Tell Me Nothing.

This list is hard to make especially because it's Kanye... his songs are very different and each appeals to different people. I like all of the songs on the list even though I don't agree with the top 5 songs.
