SANDY, Utah – Everton FC defeated the MLS All-Stars 4-3 on penalty kicks in front of 20,124 fans at Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, Utah.

Louis Saha put Everton on the board first when he found the back of the net from 12 yards out. An ill-advised pass from Stuart Holden in the 18-yard-box was intercepted by the Frenchman who was able to easily push it past MLS goalkeeper Kasey Keller.

Holden would find redemption in the 26th minute, however, when his clever pass in front of net gave Brad Davis an easy tap-in to equalize for the MLS All-Stars.

After ending in a 1-1 draw, the match went directly into a penalty shootout. Everton, who missed their first two attempts, put away their last four to down the MLS All-Stars. This marks the first win for an international club in six tries against the MLS.

Everton FC goalkeeper, and American international, Tim Howard, earned MVP honors for his performance. The former New York Metrostars standout stopped three of the six penalties he faced.
