Japanese rider Hiroshi Hoketsu made his Olympic debut in show jumping at the 1964 Tokyo Games. In 2008, he returns as a dressage rider, making him the oldest Japanese athlete to compete at this year's Games, at 67 years old.

Basics

Comprising three disciplines, the sport of equestrian showcases an array of skills of both horse and rider. While show jumping and dressage highlight agility and precision, eventing is a combination of the two, with an additional element: cross country.
