Presence at Cultural Center

With over 100 inductees, the National Polish-American Sports Hall of Fame has an outstanding collection of historic artifacts on display at the American Polish Cultural Center in Troy, Michigan. Many of the items are one-of-a-kind.

Stan Musial, the Hall’s first Inductee, is represented with items worthy of being in Cooperstown.

You can see the uniforms worn by such greats as Steve Gromek, Carol Blazejowski and Ed Olczyk. The boxing gloves used by the 1940′s world middleweight champion, Tony Zale. Basketballs, baseballs, footballs and bowling balls used and signed by Mike Krzyzewski, Whitey Kurowski, Ted Marchibroda and Ed Lubanski.

Among other items is a football signed by NPASHOF inductee Bob Skoronski, Vince Lombardi and many other members of the 1967 Super Bowl I Champion Green Bay Packers.

These are just a sampling of the over 200 artifacts on display.

In addition to viewing the National Polish-American Sports Hall of Fame display, the American Polish Cultural Center is worth a visit in itself. Built with exterior materials from across America and Europe, and featuring ornate interior woodwork from such prominent estates as the Rockefellers, the center carries on the ideals of Polish heritage and culture.

You can enjoy polish cuisine at the Center’s Wawel restaurant named after the famous castle in Krakow. The American Polish Cultural Center is located at 2975 East Maple Rd., Troy, Michigan (www.americanpolishcenter.com).
