Highlights

Madagascar were first represented by a three-man team in athletics at the Tokyo 1964 Olympic Games.

Jean-Louis RAVELOMANANTSOA reached the men's 100m final at the 1968 Olympic Games. He was also the first Madagascan to take part in three Olympic Games (1964-72).

At the Moscow 1980 Olympic Games, Madagascar's team included women for the first time.

Hurdler Nicole RAMALALANIRINA represented Madagascar in 1992 and 1996 but then switched to compete for France.

In Sydney in 2000, she finished sixth in the 100m hurdles. Sisters Dally and Natacha RANDRIANTEFY played in the women's tennis doubles at the 1992 and 1996 Olympic Games. Madagascar sent a team of six to the Beijing 2008 Games in four sports.

They have yet to win an Olympic medal.
