Friday Guest: Stacey from A Sort of Fairytale

Happy Friday!  By now the kids and I are back home after a fun filled few days in Massachusetts!  I've got some catching up to do.  In the meantime, I have a wonderful and sweet guest for you today, Stacey from A Sort of Fairytale.  Stacey is a creative soul, and I just love her use of fun floral textiles and color!  I shared with you a glimpse of her daughter's room the other day.... the rest of her home is just as vintage sweet!

You can look at those images and just see that a happy and creative spirit lives there, can't you?  I know you will enjoy Stacey!

Hello, Primitive & Proper readers!
I'm so excited and honored to be guest posting here today at Cassie's wonderful blog!

I'm Stacey from A Sort Of FairytaleI'm a flea market, estate sale, thrift store, vintage loving wife and mom.  I occasionally sell vintage home decor and accessories at local flea markets (am a total flea market junkie) and vintage markets/events.  I also have a decorating and styling services business website, Cottage Industry, which specializes in cottage and vintage style.  On my personal blog, A Sort Of Fairytale, I write about vintage, cottage, and farmhouse style, as well as musings from my "sort of fairytale" life.

If you happen to know me or read my blog, you know that color is my thing!

{My Colorful Living Room}

I love bright, fun color and am very inspired by Cath Kidston's color palette and prints.

While I admire neutral color schemes, it's just simply not "me".  I often get e-mails and comments on my blog about loving color, but the person writing is not sure how to introduce it into their home, or is too afraid to try it out.  So, today I thought I would share with you some easy ways to add a little color in your home...any colors YOU like, from muted to bright.

By far the easiest is with pillows, fabrics/textiles, and accessories.  Keep your main furnishings and wall color neutral and then add pops of color!

Another way to add color is paint of course...Cassie knows all about this, as you well know, her painted furniture is often done in pretty colors!  You don't have to go splashing it on the walls just yet, try it out on a piece of furniture ready for a makeover, or buy something already in a fun hue.

If you're ready for it, try it on the wall, even just an accent wall will make a big impact.
You can even paint the back of a bookcase or cabinet.

Don't forget about Mother Nature!  Bring in some fresh flowers from the outdoors or buy them at your local market.  There are even some pretty realistic quality fake ones these days.  Or, how about stitching up or crafting a few?

Even, I, the crazy color gal, have neutral walls and furnishings in the rooms in my home {like my living room}, because I love to add the color by way of all of the above, but don't want to be completely enveloped in it.  Also, should I change my ways someday, having the the major pieces and walls neutral in my home, will make it that much easier!

Hope you enjoyed these little tips on adding color in your home!
A heartfelt thank you to Cassie for letting me babble on her lovely blog today!!

XO,
Stacey

Hi Stacey! Cassie told me about your blog recently as she thought our styles were similar which I took as a massive compliment when I saw the beautiful pictures of your home! I am massively inspired by Cath Kidston too...the bright happy colours and patterns she uses just make me smile :) Wish we had a CK shop here in Australia!

I am your sister (well, at my age, maybe great-aunt!) in loving color.
Bare and spare doesn't do it for me at all. You have to have something to look at and lift the spirit. Thanks for all the inspiring pics.

A fun post! I am such a lover of color, too. Great tips and a good reminder to not forget about mother nature. Bringing a vase full of fresh colorful flowers from the garden in sometimes does just the trick! Happy weekend to the both of you!
