The dollars will be divided, with about $145,000 going to the Dr. Anna Pou Defense Fund and the other $312,000 going to the LSU Healthcare Network for reimbursement of legal costs.

Former Louisiana Attorney General Charles Foti had Pou arrested for allegedly killing patients at Memorial Medical Center after Katrina struck in 2005. Pou was never indicted and denied the accusations. The charges have since been expunged.

Several lawmakers have apologized for the accusations against Pou.
