Sorted!

Do you have too many hair accessories and can never locate what you want?

Here's a solution I have come up with for Esra as I am a bit of a hairband addict and need to see everything at a glance.

I made use of the space inside the wardrobe doors. I was looking for hanging pockets to buy but couldn't find any in the size that I wanted, sooooooo I made my own.

Little madam now has her own hanging space as I just couldn't bring myself to fold her pretty dresses inside drawers, most of my clothes now are in vacuum bags and I have swapped the bulky wooden hangers so I could fit more clothes inside my other wardrobe, mehh I will survive! :)

Things you will need:
  • Clear plastic pockets / zip lock bags
  • Scissors
  • Double sided tape
I cut the resealable top section of the bag so that I could access the hairbands easily, some double sided tape on the back of the top edge and 'bobs your uncle' it's done. You could also velcro them, or glue them on or even make fabric pockets, but this will do for me, as the hairbands are so light in weight and double sided tape is more than strong enough for that purpose.

How do you organise/store your headbands?

Go on, get sorting! I used this technique with bigger clear pockets on the other side of the wardrobe to store hats, and teeny baby shoes. I even used the technique in my craft cupboard to store my yarn. Crazy? Me? Never!

FOTD 30/03/12

Last night was date night again! *Woo* We went to 'Haz' restaurant at St Paul's, London and the food was delicious, definitely going there again!

Here's the make up I wore...
  • Bobbi Brown Moisture Rich Foundation (Natural)
  • Bare Minerals Powder Foundation (Medium Beige)
  • Mac Studio Finish Concealer (NC30)
  • Soleil Tan De Chanel
  • Mac 'Moon River' Mineralised Blush
  • Mac 'Amber Lights', 'Romp', 'Brun' & 'Rice Paper' E/S
  • L'oreal Super Liner
  • Mac brown Eye liner
  • Blink & Go Mascara
  • L'oreal 'Cappuccino' Lip Liner
  • Smashbox 'Pout' Lip Gloss

I actually ended up trimming my hair too as I needed my layers re done, I'm such a 'DIY' addict.

I wore a beautiful coral dress that the hubby surprised me with. I did take pictures of me wearing it but they didn't come out too good, so you can admire it on the hanger! The dress was a bargain at £40 from 'Gap'!

"Oh and Em, if your reading, yes those are your earrings. I'm looking after them for you!" :)

Also, as a bit of an FYI I'm doing Jillian Michael's 30 Day shred! I'm on day 3 and my legs are killing me. Esra is 6 months old and I'm only just getting my butt in gear. I got too comfortable with myself, and I'm now determined to change that and get me a super fit body! The first day is the hardest, but once you have started you just need the motivation to continue, and I have finally found it!!! I will be sharing my journey with you and posting before and after pics!

Hope you are having a great weekend, and excuse my lack of updates. I just never find the time these days, I'm forever cleaning and trying to wean Esra onto solids which is very challenging! :) Oh and I know you are all thinking 'Your make up is usually focused on the eyes' but I am SO proud that I actually wore bright lips about 5 days in a row last week, next time I promise to get snap happy and share the looks with you.

Speak soon! X

DIY Hot Drink Station...

This is a storage post.

Today I attempted to organise everything in my kitchen. I ditched the traditional 'tea', 'coffee', 'sugar' containers as I had 10million types of tea and coffee (slight exaggeration but you get the idea) and created a 'Hot Drink' station...

Here's what it looks like in the corner of my kitchen. A one stop station for any hot drink, I love that everything is on display and I can find everything I'm looking for. It also makes me feel special as it makes me feel a little bit like I'm in a hotel. :)

It was a bit of a DIY job as I made a shelf from some of the left over wood that we had from our worktop, arranged some jars on top, contained my teas in a basket and labeled everything with my Dymo machine.

Here's a list of everything I included in the jars:
  • Douwe Egberts Coffee
  • Nescafe
  • Turkish Coffee
  • Hot Chocolate
  • Sugar
  • A bowl with tea spoons and a tea strainer

Inside the 'Tea' Basket I have many different types of tea including good ol' Tetley, Earl grey, peppermint, chamomile, Linden, Green, Jasmine, and a few random ones from Pukka.

And on the side I have my honey pot to sweeten up my drinks if I'm not taking sugar!

The jars are ones I have kept over the past few months, the one containing the sugar is a large Yankee candle holder, the two small ones are from the 'Douwe Egberts' coffees, I think one had candy in them and one is a regular mason jar. The tea basket was from TK Maxx.

I haven't fully finished yet, one can say I went a bit crazy labeling. 'Monica would be proud!'

Are you inspired to do a 'Hot Drinks Station' and what's your favourite hot drink?

I have two favourite hot drinks at the moment, one being 'Douwe Egberts' Coffee and the other being 'Earl Grey' tea.

Happy Mothers Day...

"Heaven lies under the feet of your mother"

Wow, it's my first 'Mothers Day', and I am so happy and proud to be a mother, you can't truly understand and appreciate a mothers love until you become one yourself. It's so rewarding and beautiful to see your little one grow and in a mothers eyes you will always be her baby, just like I am my mothers.

Wishing all mothers and mothers to be a beautiful day with their loved ones!

March GlossyBox - The Harrods Edition

Drum roll...

Fendi - Fan Di Fendi Eau De Toilette
Ojon - Damage Reverse Instant restorative hair serum
Erno Laszlo - The hollywood collection / 5 sachets
Burberry Beauty - Miniature Lip Cover Rosewood
Clarins - Extra Firming Body Cream

This months is a brilliant box, I haven't been excited about the last couple of boxes so it was a nice surprise when the postman delivered this one an hour ago, I tore that box open! It's nice to see a proper sample sized perfume that actually smells nice, and not the horrible plastic tubes. The miniature Burberry lipstick is a nice addition, initially the shade looked too dark for my liking, but when applied is a nice 'my lips but better' colour. The Ojon serum is great to see in there, as I have loved every single Ojon product I have tried in the past. The skincare sachets will be interesting to try and the generous sample sized body moisturiser will make a great addition to my handbag.

If you are interested in subscribing to Glossybox check it out HERE!

What's your take on this months GlossyBox?

Disclaimer:
This box was sent for consideration for review, I wasn't paid for this post but I am now affiliated with them and I may make a few pennies if you purchase something through the link. This is my honest opinion as always!

Human Fundamentalism...

I attended the latest collection launch from Illamasqua this evening, and wow did they give us something to talk about...

The collection 'Human Fundamentalism' encourages being who you are, and not who you are told to be. It's about breaking stereotypes and seeing it as a sign of strength and not instability. Check out the film HERE!

This collection sees the launch of a teal lipstick which certainly breaks boundaries, but frankly it's not for me *shock horror*, But that is what Illamasqua is all about, and this collection didn't disappoint, there is something for everyone.

The collection includes, 2 eye shadow palettes, 2 lipsticks, 2 nail polishes, 6 matte powder eye shadows, precision ink and a limited edition skin base.

My favourite from the entire collection was the neutral palette, it's simply beautiful! It has three matte shades and a antique gold shade called 'Vintage'.

I also liked both nail polishes (Nomad - Bright Jade) + (Stance - Fuchsia Violet), and the teal (Burst) and brown (Vernau) single eye shadows.

These 5 are my top picks!

In my goodie box, I had 'Stance' nail polish which reminds me of OPI 'Ate berries in the Canaries' but it's much more vivid and more violet, 'Vernau' eyeshadow which reminds me of a warmer 'Cork' e/s by Mac, possibly also similar to 'Texture'. I also have 'Box' which is a cool toned matte red lipstick, but I'm not so sure about it as I'm really not much of a bright lipstick lover.

The event itself was rather crazy, it was a flashback from the 90's with sweets, drinks, music and dancing. But the weirdest part was Ande Sombe who did some yoinking which left me feeling awkward but gave me the giggles!

Human Fundamentalism is available globally from March 14th online and in stores, but is available to pre order from the 7th.

Do you have your eye on anything from the new collection?

Date Night...

It's incredibly important as a couple to still spend time together ALONE even when baby has arrived. I should really take my own advice, as we have only had 2 date nights since Esra was born, the first one was incredibly rushed and I don't even really remember it, yes I am suffering with baby brain and it is a "real" condition! :)

Here's what I wore...

(PRODUCTS USED)

YSL Touche Eclat
Maybelline Dream Touch Blush - Apricot
Mac 'Ricepaper', 'Contrast' & 'Coppering Eye Shadows
Max Factor Liquid Effect Pencil 'Black Fire'
Blink & Go Mascara
Sleek 'Dark' Eyebrow Kit
L'oreal 'Cappuccino' Lip Liner
Mac 'Hue' Lipstick

I opted for a statement necklace and large navy clutch as I wore a black dress and wanted to jazz it up a little...

Yep no time for nail polish! *Sob*

Furthermore, I need to lose 3.4kg... I put on a bit of weight due to breastfeeding as it just makes you extremely hungry and I lost control :) oh well, it's not that bad and I am giving myself 3 months to be in tip top shape which is definitely achievable, I'm determined to get there quicker!

Hope you had a great Saturday night, I haven't been out on a Saturday for AGES! Feels Good!! But, it feels even better to be home with my baby girl and hubby!

Spring in my step...

Esra woke up all smiley faced this morning and I deemed it a good day. She is definitely doing much better and so am I apart from blowing my nose every few minutes! The Bobbi Brown Extra repair cream has been keeping my nose in tip top condition! :)

The sun has been shining here in London and is making me excited for Spring! I love my trusty Urban Decay 24/7 liner in Lust to brighten up my day! I used the purple pencil on the upper and lower lash line and then used MUA (shade 9) e/s over the top to smoke it out.

See swatch of e/s HERE and my review of the pencil HERE.

  • Face: Bobbi Brown Creamy concealer 'Natural'
  • Cheeks: Soleil tan de Chanel
  • Eyes: Urban Decay 'Lust' pencil, MUA (9) e/s, Mac 'Beautiful Iris' e/s + Blink & Go mascara.
  • Lips: Mac Oak lipliner and Mac 'Innocence Beware' lipstick
I also dyed my hair all one colour with Clairol 'Nice n Easy' foam colour in 'Light Brown' and this is the result. I LOVED the highlights but maintenance was hard, but I am loving this colour even more so right now as I can getaway with more daring makeup looks! :)

Also, not forgetting Esra, I picked up a beautiful yellow ruffle dress for my princess from Gap, it will look great with her cropped jean jacket and crochet hairband that I made to match!

I can't stop buying baby things, uh oh! I ordered a snuggle pod in sweet pea last night and the list just goes on and on...

What new things have you picked up or done in the spirit of Spring? Will you be Spring cleaning? I'm thinking of having a MAJORRRR wardrobe clear out!
