Peter R. Aceto

Peter Aceto, President and Chief Executive Officer of ING DIRECT Canada since 2008, is a passionate leader and committed savings advocate. His career with ING DIRECT began in Canada more than a decade ago as a founding member of its senior leadership team.

As the senior leader of ING DIRECT Canada, Peter provides his relentless focus on delivering an outstanding customer experience and the cornerstones of success for ING DIRECT: maintaining a simple and efficient business model, working with management to develop and evolve an innovative, winning and adaptable strategy, managing risk, return and growth; and building an ever strengthening team to execute the company's vision. Peter believes culture centred leadership drives a more engaged workforce and increases business results.

Peter was most recently a member of the ING DIRECT USA executive committee and responsible for sales, marketing and corporate communications. Prior to that, he held the posts of Chief Risk Officer, Chief of Staff and Chief Lending Officer. While in the U.S., Peter championed the company's philanthropic activities which focused on providing opportunities to underprivileged children across the country and around the world.

Peter is actively involved in the community. He was a Board Member and champion for Habitat for Humanity, the ING DIRECT Kids Foundation, the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce among others and is currently on the Business Development Committee of Mt. Sinai Hospital and is a Member of the Council of Governors of i-Canada dedicated to helping Canada be a world leading “intelligent nation”.

Peter was recognized as the 2010 Communicator of the Year by the Toronto Chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators, an award presented to a Toronto-area leader who demonstrates excellence in communications. Under his leadership, ING DIRECT was recognized as one of Canada’s 50 Best Employers for two consecutive years, 2010 and 2011; as well as one of Canada’s Top 10 Most Admired Corporate Cultures in 2011.

Peter achieved his Bachelor of Law in May of 1994 from the University of Western Ontario, where he also earned his undergraduate degree in Psychology in 1991. He lives in the Toronto area with his wife and three children.

Eileen A. Mercier

Ms. Mercier is Chair of the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan Board. She is also a member of the Board of Directors of CGI Group Ltd., Teekay Shipping Corporation, and Intact Financial Corporation. Ms. Mercier formed her own management consulting firm, Finvoy Management Inc., specializing in financial strategy, restructuring and corporate governance issues, in 1995. Prior to that time, she was Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Abitibi-Price Inc. Ms. Mercier holds a Master's Degree from the University of Alberta and an MBA from York University. She is a Fellow of the Institute of Canadian Bankers and a Fellow of the Institute of Corporate Directors of Canada.

Michiel R. Leenders

Dr. Leenders is the Leenders Purchasing Management Association of Canada Chair, and Professor Emeritus at the Richard Ivey School of Business at The University of Western Ontario. He is a former director of the School's PhD program and Chaired the operations management group for 25 years. He received a degree in mining engineering from the University of Alberta, his MBA from The University of Western Ontario, and his doctorate from the Harvard Business School. He has written a large number of articles in a variety of magazines and journals. His supply management texts have been translated into ten different languages and include: Value-Driven Purchasing: The Key Steps in the Acquisition Process, published by Irwin Professional Publishing; Reverse Marketing, The New Buyer-Supplier Relationship, published by the Free Press; Improving Purchasing Effectiveness through Supplier Development, published by the Harvard Division of Research. He has also co-authored nine editions of the case method texts Learning with Cases, Writing Cases, and Teaching with Cases and nine editions of Purchasing and Supply Management, published by McGraw-Hill/Irwin. Mike has taught and consulted extensively both in Canada and internationally. He received PMAC's Fellowship Award in 1975, the PMAC Chair in 1993, the Financial Post Leaders in Management Education Award in 1997, and the Hans Ovelgönne Purchasing Research Award in 2001. In 2011, Mr. Leenders received the John H. Hoagland Award. He is the director of the Ivey Purchasing Managers Index. An active entrepreneur, he has founded six small companies.

Lib Gibson

Lib Gibson brings over 35 years experience in technology, Internet and marketing to her role on the Board of Directors. She launched Sympatico, Canada's largest ISP, and respected web sites such as GlobeInvestor and Workopolis. She served as CEO of Bell Globemedia Interactive, Canada's largest Internet media company and of Raft Mobile Systems, a joint venture of Rogers and Ericsson. She has served as Corporate Advisor in the Office of the CEO at BCE, as VP Marketing of WorldLinx, VP Marketing and Sales of Unicare, and leader of the international software business of I.P. Sharp Associates (later Reuters).

Ms. Gibson is an Adjunct Professor in the Strategy Department of the MBA program at University of Toronto's Rotman School of Management and also an Adjunct Professor at the Queen's MBA program, teaching a course on Managing Innovation. She also lectures on innovation in other venues. Ms. Gibson is a co-author of a 2006 Harvard Business Review article Mapping your Innovation Strategy and an earlier book Application Systems in APL: How to Build Them Right.

Ms. Gibson also sits on the Advisory Council of Equifax Canada, the Advisory Board of Queen's MBA; and in the past she was Chair of the Board of Workopolis and on the boards of Sympatico-Lycos, toronto.com, BCE Capital, Digital Technology International and Canadian Woman in Communications. She has been named the Trailblazer of the Year by CWC, a New Media Pioneer, and a Woman of Influence.

Ms. Gibson holds a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Mathematics from Carleton University.

Dick Harryvan

Dick Harryvan (b. 1953, Dutch nationality) is a member of the Executive Board of Amsterdam-based ING Group, which is - based on market capitalization - one of the 15 largest financial institutions worldwide and in the top-10 in Europe. ING is a global financial institution of Dutch origin offering banking, insurance, and asset management to a broad customer base (private, corporate, and institutional Clients) in more than 50 countries. With a diverse workforce of over 115,000 people, ING comprises a broad spectrum of prominent companies that increasingly serve their Clients under the ING brand. Mr. Harryvan is responsible for ING Direct worldwide and ING Card.

Mr. Harryvan started his career with ING as a management trainee at Nationale-Nederlanden in 1979. From 1980-1989, he held various management positions in ING's US and Canadian insurance businesses. In 1989, Harryvan moved back to the Netherlands and was appointed a manager of the International Division of Nationale-Nederlanden. In 1993 followed the appointment as general manager Bancassurance at the International Division of Amsterdam-based ING Bank. From 1995-2005, Harryvan served as general manager of ING Direct. Until his appointment as a member of the Executive Board of ING Group on 25 April 2006, Harryvan was chief financial officer/chief risk officer and a member of the Global Management Team of ING Direct.

Mr. Harryvan serves on the Board of the Netherlands-Canadian Chamber of Commerce.

Mr. Harryvan holds a masters degree in business economics from the Erasmus University Rotterdam, majoring in finance.

Paul Cantor

Mr. Cantor is Senior Advisor at Bennett Jones LLP, where he advises on business and governance related issues. He joined the firm in 2007 and is based in Toronto.

Mr. Cantor has served as Chairman and CEO of National Trust Company, President and CEO of Confederation Life Insurance Company, and at Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC), most recently as President, Investment Bank. Mr. Cantor was the Managing Partner and Chair of Russell Reynolds Associates in Canada. His public sector experience includes establishing and serving as Executive Director of the Toronto International Leadership Centre for Financial Sector Supervision. Earlier, he worked in Canada's Department of Finance and for Polysar Ltd.

Mr. Cantor is the Chair of the Board of Directors of the Public Sector Pension Investment Board, Chair of the Board of Directors of Revera Living Ltd., and Chair of the Board of Governors of York University. He also serves on the Board of ING Bank of Canada, where he is the Chair of the Risk Oversight and Investment Committee, and on the Board of Directors of Intact Financial Corporation. In the past, his Board service included CIBC, National Trust, Torstar, E-L Financial Group, and Hees International Bancorp. He also served on the Federal Reserve Bank of New York's International Capital Markets Committee, Revenue Canada Taxation's Advisory Committee and on the Ontario Premier's Council on Economic Renewal.

Mr. Cantor holds a B.A. from the University of Alberta, an LL.B. from the University of Toronto and is a Fellow of the Institute of Canadian Bankers (Ryerson University).

Paul R. Weiss

Paul Weiss is a member of the Boards of Directors and serves as Audit Committee Chair at BCE Inc. and Bell Canada, Torstar Corporation, ING Bank of Canada and is a member of the Board of Directors Empire Life Insurance Company. He is also, Chair of the Board of Directors of Soulpepper Theatre Company, Past Chair of the Board of Directors of Toronto Rehab Foundation and a member of the Board of Directors of Niagara International Music Festival. He retired from KPMG in 2008 after 41 years where he was Managing Partner of Canadian Audit Practice, a member of the Firm's Management Committee and a member of the Global Audit Leadership Team.

Cynthia Devine

Cynthia Devine is Chief Financial Officer of Tim Hortons Inc. In this role, she has executive accountability for leading the Company's financial organization including accounting, financial reporting, tax, financial planning and analysis, internal audit and investor relations. In addition Cynthia has responsibility for information technology and executive oversight of the Company's manufacturing operations and vertical integration strategy.

Cynthia developed the infrastructure, processes and capabilities necessary to successfully lead the Company through its Initial Public Offering in March 2006 and the subsequent spin-off to a separate stand alone public company in September 2006. Today, Tim Hortons is the fourth largest publicly-traded quick service restaurant chain in North America based on market capitalization, and the largest in Canada.

Before joining Tim Hortons in 2003, Cynthia served as Senior Vice President for Maple Leaf Foods, a large Canadian food processing company. Prior to her role at Maple Leaf, Cynthia worked at Pepsi-Cola Canada for nearly 10 years in a variety of senior finance positions including Chief Financial Officer from 1999 to 2001.

Cynthia is a Chartered Accountant and holds an Honors Business Administration degree from the University of Western Ontario. In 2008 Cynthia was recognized by the Women's Executive Network as one of Canada's top 100 Most Powerful Women.
