World Of Warcraft Patch 5.0.4 Is Live Now

World of Warcraft patch 5.0.4 is live, and it adds a number of interesting features to Blizzard's juggernaut of an MMO.

Here are the new features straight from the mouth of Blizzard:

  • New Talent System – The World of Warcraft talent system has been redesigned to allow for unique core ability and specialization choices.
  • Class Changes – Many changes to character classes, including an array of new spells and abilities.
  • Glyphs – Glyphs have been redesigned to be more specialized, while offering players fun and cosmetic customization options.
  • Account-wide Mounts, Pets, and Achievements – Players now have access to (nearly) all the mounts, pets, and achievements they’ve earned across all their characters under one Battle.net account.
  • Area of Effect (AOE) Looting – Looting has never been easier.
  • Theramore’s Fall Scenario – The first two Scenarios (one for Horde and one for Alliance) will be available for players to take on shortly before launch.
  • Cross-Realm Zones – Cross-realm zones are a new technology enabling players to meet up and group with other players in underpopulated areas of the game world.
  • BattleTag Support –Your BattleTag is a permanent, non-unique, account-wide nickname that serves as your identity when staying connected to other players using Battle.net’s powerful social features.

  • It would be wonderful if would actually download, I've sat at 0% for about an hour and a half now.
  • I don't play WoW but AoE looting sounds like the greatest thing in the world :)
  • sorry wow can't hear you over the sound of guild wars 2
  • I love the account-wide things; I've been waiting for them to implement that feature for years.
  • The "Oh crap, Guild Wars 2 is really good, better release this thing we have been sitting on in case this happened to get players to stay interested" patch.
  • The new talent system is nice and it definitely opens up the ways in which a particular class/spec can be played.

The new glyph system is nice too but sadly, unless you happen to have a ton of gold lying around or you can make your own, you can't really utilize it at the moment since the AH has been flooded with overpriced glyphs and materials.

I haven't really gotten to try out AoE looting yet but I'm sure I'll like it. It's odd to see monk glyphs on the AH and pet battle trainers in the major cities since neither are usable until MoP actually launches a month from now.

  • Sorry, WoW, I have a new love now.  Its name is Guild Wars 2.

  • 5.0.4

    Wow... No pun intended BTW.

  • I still can never forgive WoW for completely failing my expectations and making me hate MMOs.
  • Never played Wow, played Guild Wars instead. Never regretted that decision ever
  • Hurrah for everyone, except Iran. Sucks for them. :(
  • Woah! I can share my cheevos AND my mounts cross different characters now! I might have to come back.

  • Hmm new talant system. I might want to come back.
  • "Cross-realm zones are a new technology enabling players to meet up and group with other players in underpopulated areas of the game world." Big deal. Just about every quest nowadays can be solo'd ever since all the {Elite} quests have been made into regular quests. Only reason this would be cool is if it works so that you will see the opposing faction in these zones enabling more world PVP.
  • Just die already WoW.
  • What's WOW? I only speak GW2... =P
  • I hate how WoW does this sh*t to destroy other MMOs.

These calculated releases coinciding with its competitors has to stop. They did the same thing with WotLK expansion when Aion released, multiple patches during Rift and SWOTR release dates.
If they truly were such a "juggernaut", why fear competition?

Also, why do (rift/gw2/swotr) fanboys have to say "death to WoW"? That game was good during vanilla/bc days and yes it's stale and sucks now, but there's no need to "kill" it just because you don't play it anymore. I dont play mario 64 anymore, does that mean no one else should after me? There is still a ton of people who enjoy WoW and who are you take their fun away from them?

Both Blizzard as a company and anti-Wow fanboys need to grow up and let games coincide in peace. Pick your game, enjoy it, and shut up. Plenty of money to go around.

  • One reason why I don't play these games is because I know I will get addicted lol. 40 hour + games are good enough for me, it works out well because I only purchase 2 - 3 games a year.
