Phillips 66, the new refining giant created when ConocoPhillips split in two in May, will build its global headquarters in Houston’s Westchase District, the company announced Wednesday.
The headquarters will be in West Houston, on 14 acres of land off Sam Houston Tollway, between Westheimer Road and Briar Forest Drive. The building, which is still under design, will include conference space, training facilities, a gym and dining options, according to the company.
Phillips 66 acquired the property from an affiliate of Thomas Properties Group. Diana Laing, chief financial officer for the commercial real estate firm, said the land deal is months away from close and might not finalize until early 2013.
Phillips 66 did not say when it plans to break ground, but construction is expected to take two to three years.
“We searched for several months for the right site to build a headquarters campus where our employees and future employees can come together to work and develop their skills and talents,” said Phillips 66 CEO Greg Garland in a written statement. “This property is conveniently located in the Westchase District and a location that aligns with our commitment to making our company a great place to work.”
Phillips 66 has about 1,600 Houston employees. In addition to its 15 refineries, Phillips 66 jointly operates Chevron Phillips Chemical Company and natural gas processing and transport business DCP Midstream.
Earlier this year, Phillips 66 moved its Houston employees from the ConocoPhillips corporate offices on North Dairy Ashford Road to its temporary headquarters in the Pinnacle Westchase building.
