Morden Gets City Status

The 2011 census put Morden at a population of 7,812.  The requirement to become a city is 7,500.  On Monday, March 12th, 2012 Council passed a resolution to apply to the province for City status.

On August 24th, Morden Council made the announcement that the Town was now officially a City.  They made the announcement on the main stage at the Morden Corn & Apple Festival, just before the performance of Kim Mitchell. Mayor Ken Wiebe read the letter from the Honourable Ron Lemieux, Minister of Local Government, stating that the status change became effective on August 24th making Morden the 10th City in Manitoba.

Everyone was welcomed to the CITY OF MORDEN.
