Greenway back for Firebirds

QUEENSLAND'S Firebirds' English import Tamsin Greenway has been officially cleared to play in next year's national league competition.

Netball Australia Chief Executive Kate Palmer said its eligibility committee had reconsidered the Firebirds' application for a second import, granting Greenway permission to re-join them next season.

"We acknowledged that five young Queensland players had chosen to take up an AIS Scholarship to prepare for the 2009 World Youth Championships and Tamsin's international experience would add considerable benefit to the Firebirds' playing roster in this elite competition,'' she said.

Greenway, who can play goal attack or wing attack, will be lining up for the Firebirds in 2009 with another import - last season's shooting sensation, Jamaican Romelda Aiken. The Firebirds finished fifth last season.
