Curle: Hughes staying put at Notts, unless right offer is made
NOTTS County have rejected two approaches for Lee Hughes, but have left the door open for him to leave Meadow Lane.
Oldham Athletic and Cheltenham Town have both enquired about signing the striker, 36, on loan, amid rumours he is unhappy at the club.
But boss Keith Curle insists Hughes will not be going anywhere, unless an offer is made that suits both the player and club.
"I fully expect him to be here next season," he said. "Lee's part of our strike force. I've heard the rumours.
"But Lee Hughes won't leave the club unless it is right for him and us.
"I spoke to Lee and unfortunately, the deals that were proposed didn't suit Notts County."
Hughes is expected to be in the Magpies' squad for a pre-season friendly at Scarborough today and to fly out with a 21-man squad to Spain tomorrow for a one-week training camp.
Curle wants to take trialists Carl Regan and Andre Boucaud, and possibly Enzo Fuentes, to Spain but Krystian Pearce and Tyrell Waite will stay in England.
Pearce will continue his rehabilitation after having a hernia operation in the summer and Waite has a knee injury.
"Andre's contracted to Luton and we've made a request to extend his trial so we can look at him for a bit longer," said Curle. "Hopefully we'll be taking Carl Regan, but I know there are a number of clubs that have shown interest in him."
