Ally Pickering, caretaker-manager of Vodkat North West Counties League Premier Division club New Mills, has made his first signing in vastly experienced striker Simon Yeo.

Yeo, 36, retired from professional football last summer upon the expiration of his contract at Coca-Cola League Two outfit Macclesfield Town.

Since leaving the professional game, Yeo has played in Blue Square North for both Droylsden and Harrogate Town.

Yeo (pictured) started his football career with Ards, and after a brief spell with Coleraine joined Hyde United in 1998. He went on to score 111 goals in 169 games, before moving to Lincoln City in May 2002.

After a brief spell with New Zealand Knights, he returned to Lincoln in 2005 and then moved on to Peterborough United, Chester City, Bury and then Macclesfield.

He started the current season at Droylsden before his move to Harrogate in December 2009.
