  • Key facts from the latest GSA surveys and reports:

  • 472 HSPA operators commercially launched in 183 countries (GSA survey: July 18, 2012)

  • 100% of WCDMA operators worldwide have also deployed HSPA

  • 367 commercial HSPA networks (over 77%), support 7.2 Mbps (peak DL) or higher

  • 232 HSUPA networks commercially launched in 108 countries, which means 49% of HSPA operators have launched HSUPA

  • 167 HSUPA networks support up to 5.8 Mbps peak UL and another 12 networks support 11.5 Mbps peak

  • HSPA Evolution (HSPA+) is mainstream. There are 279 HSPA+ network commitments globally

  • 52 additional pre-commitment operator trials in 11 more countries

  • Taken together it means 351 operators are investing in LTE in 104 countries

  • 11 commercial LTE TDD (TD-LTE) systems are launched

  • 38 commercial LTE1800 systems are launched i.e. LTE networks deployed in 1800 MHz (3GPP Band 3) spectrum - either as single band or as part of multi-band networks. (Included in the above total of 105 commercial LTE networks)

  • 3GPP-family (GSM/EDGE, WCDMA-HSPA/HSPA+ and LTE): 5.64 billion subscriptions = 89.9% global market share

  • WCDMA: 1.01 billion subscriptions including over 750 million HSPA subscriptions

  • LTE: 27.6 million subscriptions
