Research

Two researchers survey a site from beside a landrover.

Applied research provides the vital evidence that allows English Heritage to protect England's historic environment and to provide expert advice to others. It also helps us to set standards and to pioneer new approaches to conservation. Our research priorities are determined by the National Heritage Protection Plan.

Our Research Strategy

The National Heritage Protection Plan sets out our high-level strategy going  forwards for protecting the historic environment, including understanding and identifying what is important.
