GEOGRAPHICAL FEATURES
Chukudum is one of the largest parishes in the diocese. It is approximately 15,000 square Kms and covers five Payams. It is located in the extreme part of Eastern Equatoria, bordering Uganda in the south and Kenya in the east. It borders Kapoeta parish in the north at Tahaninya, and Narus parish in northeast.
DEMOGRAPHY
According to the SRRA official in the area, the current population is approximately 132,000. There are 470 registered IDPs as by 2002 but there are probably others who were not registered but are living with their relatives. The predominant tribe in the Parish is the Didinga and the language spoken is also called Didinga, which is well understood, by their kin, the Buya.

Education
The Verona Fathers started Chukudum Primary School in 1954,.
Water Sector
There are 13 bore holes in the whole parish of which 5 are located in Chukudum town, 2 in Lorema, 1 in Kikila, 1 in Lotukei, 1 in Farasika, and others else where. On average, outside the town, a woman would spend 9 hours to get water.
Veterinary Sector
Quite a few people keep livestock though many are shifting to agriculture and small businesses. There is no problem with either pasture or water for the animals. The real problem is that here are rampant animal diseases in the area and the veterinary services offered by Veterinary Without Boarders (VSF) does not reach to all areas.
Crops
Variety of crops for both food and cash are being grown in Chukudum. The main ones are sorghum, simsim, maize, tobacco, and beans. Actually the Didinga are the sole exporters of tobacco to the neighbouring ethnic groups.
Justice And Peace
The main sources of conflict, Cattle raiding, Armed robbery, High bride wealth, Disputes over arable land, Disputes with the IDPs, Deserters with guns, Disputes over grazing areas on water and grass and Forced marriage and rape.
