Visiting during the fair?

When the Perot Museum opens in Victory Park on December 1, 2012, our longtime headquarters in Fair Park will officially become the Fair Park campus of the Perot Museum of Nature and Science. As we make the transition, please be aware of the following restrictions that apply to all Museum visits during the State Fair of Texas®.

September 28-October 21, 2012

  • All Museum members will receive a letter/voucher for a one-time admission to the State Fair as they have in past years.
  • However, this year, Museum members will NOT have free access to the Nature or Science Buildings due to a ticketed State Fair exhibit — the Chinese Lantern Festival — which will be set up in and around both buildings.
  • Because this exhibit requires an additional admission fee, the entire area will be surrounded by a fence with entrances at Grand Avenue and First Avenue only.
  • Both buildings will be open and free to Museum members IF they purchase a ticket to the Chinese Lantern Festival.
  • For nonmembers, admission to the Science Building will be free and admission to the Nature Building will be $1 AFTER paying the Chinese Lantern Festival fee.
  • The Museum will offer a special IMAX® film (China: A Panda Adventure) for those attending the Chinese Lantern Festival. Admission is $5 per person. There is not a Museum member discount for this film.
  • The Planetarium will run as usual during the State Fair. Admission is $2 per person. There is not a Museum member discount for Planetarium shows during the State Fair.

Please check back following the State Fair for further details about our Fair Park campus.
