AMILAnet: A unique online community AMILAnet is primarily a discussion and informational net for AMILA members. AMILAnet is not available for mailforwarding by non-members. In order to subscribe to AMILAnet, you are encouraged to be a member of AMILA (pay annual dues, attend required amount of meetings, etc). AMILAnet has a "family" atmosphere that is familiar and polite, yet there is vigorous debate on Islamic issues. We pride ourselves in the fact that we can discuss items in a civilized manner, and we hope you can be part of this special community. AMILAnet began on March 20, 1996, and our membership is steady at about 250 people. Most are from the Bay Area (75%), but a substantial number are scattered all over the country and the world. Concentrations of AMILAnet members are in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Texas, England, and Indonesia. AMILAnet has been featured in articles in the San Jose Mercury News as well as in the January 9th, 1998 episode of "Internet Cafe" on PBS in a special on "Online Activism."
