New Front Mission Takes off on DS
Some first details on the new Front Mission 2089 for DS.
Producer Koichiro Sakamoto commented, "The mobile phone version was a success, however looking at survey results from the fans, most have commented that they do not play games on their cell phones. This game has strong links with the main story of the series and we wanted to allow more people to play this game, so we decided on releasing it on the DS."
The DS version will now include cut-scene events in still animation format and a few changes have been made to the story as well. "We have rewritten the script of the game. With the mobile phone version we could only release three chapters in a month, so it was difficult to keep the pacing. But now with the DS, we can tell the story in a more linear fashion," said Front Mission series producer Toshiro Tsuchida. "It's not a complete overhaul where the ending will be different, but you will see some parts of the stories which are quite different from the original mobile phone version."
The game's graphics have also been greatly enhanced over the original mobile phone version and the previously released Front Mission 1st. Touchpad controls have also been improved allowing players to customize their mechs and sell parts in a more efficient manner.
Front Mission 2089: Border of Madness has no release date set yet in Japan, but we'll be sure to keep you posted.

If most commented that they don't play cell games, then could Squenix be considering a console or hand-held version of Parasite Eve?
